Old look Santro Zing - Euro IV engine or not? - Team-BHP

A friend is planning to buy a car and he is fixed on a Santro after doing the rounds of showrooms. Now, he is being offered the old look Santro Zing GLS for 3.66 (on road). The new look GLS is coming to 4.02 on road.

He is not bothered about the new features and such, and just wants a good city car. I was concerned about whether the engine is Euro IV compliant (due to the imposition of Euro IV norm from next year). The salesman assured me that it is Euro IV compliant, but I though why not check if anyone can confirm if the old-look Santro were Euro IV compliant. This is the model just before the new look model was released a few weeks back.

So, can someone please help with this query?

Old eLRX engine is defenitely Euro3 compliant. Not sure about the Euro4 compliance.
Also the emission compliance does not change the driveability of the car unless it is completely retuned. Also Euro4 is hopefully coming into effect in Ten cities from April 2010. But I think @3.66 lacs the old one is a pretty good buy.

At 3.6 Lacs OTR it's a very good deal. Tell him to go for it.

In fact tell him to wait for 2 more weeks and he should get an even sweeter deal as Diwali is just round the corner and they do some fantastic deals then !!
