Why wagon R and why not i10 AT?

The i10 comes with a better automatic transmission, check out if Hyundai offers a LPG kit.

No i10 cos of the stupid beige coloured dashboard.
Its a huge pain in the eye.
Also WagonR has a bigger boot space (at least my perception).

Beige dashboard is not really a pain so as to cause discomfort to affect daily driving.

Is the Wagon R AT 2 speed or 3 speed?

AT box used in WagonR is very old-school. I would suggest compromising on the "huge pain in the eyes" (But good looking and quality) dashboard of i10, rather than the AT box in WagonR.

Only modern AT option in Maruti line-up is the SX4. (Hopefully, Swift will get it for the next refresh).

Perhaps you can check on a road between 11 AM to 4 PM where there are intermittent tree (and hence shadow).
The flashing effect that's generated due to this is enough to subtly make you leave your driving comfort zone and give you a mild headache.

Such roads are not rare and can be found in city as well as highways.

Of course, I am also checking whether that beige dashboard can be painted black/covered with black thing.

Other turnoff for i10 is a very low FE.
Either the drivers on t-bhp donno how to drive AT, or the engine/power train is not properly designed.

Note: I am getting 14kmpl on my OHC AT with approximate 50% AC.

Anyways, lets try to stick to the main query of this thread. - >

"Is it possble to buy non lpg Wagon R (I hv WagonR AT in mind) n then add the WagonR LPGs LPG kit?"

Kerala highways are like this especially from Tvm to Cherthala and Thrissur to Valayar on NH47 and almost all of NH17 inside the state.

During my recent day trip from Tvm to Guruvayur we did not experience much trouble in the sun so as to make driving a tedious job. If the dash was black it would've been better, but beige is not making driving difficult for us.

Polaroid driving glasses may help to cut down on reflections.

WagonR AT might yield a better fuel economy than i10AT eventhough the former has an older tranny. WagonR engine is more fuel efficient than i10 1.2.

Have you contacted a Maruti service station with this query? Maybe you can avail the help of a Maruti owning friend to get in touch with a knowledgeable maruti service engineer to answer your query and how much it will cost.

It should be very much possible.

I contacted one Mr Prasad Joshi from Chaugule (PCMC) for AX. He give me the prices.
Also said that AX gearbox needs to be imported. So the waiting is almost 2 to 3 months.
He has seen only 1 AX version sold from his office.
I asked whether Maruti has any plans of having better geared AT in near future. The answer was no idea.
I again asked that i10 etc are now with AT and are selling in decent amount.
His response was that "perhaps with B4 emission norms, a new variant can be launched. But cannot confirm this."
So the guy effectively has no visibility on the AX part.

WagonR AT is best to be avoided. Too big a waiting period for this, seems like they are dissuading people from buying it. Zen AT reports havent been so good either.

On your question of installing LPG in it after the sale, yes, it is possible, however please check with the dealers/company as it may void your warranty.

i10 is available in CNG - Dealer fitted, on iRDE models. Since AT is in Kappa variants, you dont get CNG installed and dealer wont install it, getting it done outside will void your warranty.

So in the end, you cant get an AT hatchback which could be lighter on your pocket. Try searching for used OHC (AT) , NHC (AT) etc with CNG . If it helps you.

I had a Wagon R AX with me for two months. I could not eke more than 12.5kpl with AC on evn on longish drives in the highways of Kerala. In the town runs it would not come to the double digit mark.

The gearing was the culprit here. The 3 speed gearbox felt as it had gears similar to the the first 3 gear ratios in a manual.

Would it be possible to fit the SX4 4 speed auto gearbox in WagonR?

Another thread suggests that maruti just might come up with a new wagon r version.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post1643871 (Maruti's new small car)

What we can all do is pray to god that it has a decent 4 speed AT box as an option as shown in the pictures.

I again had a talk with the Maruti person.
He said that cng will be popular in a big way in next 2 years or so.
So dont go for lpg.
Buy normal AX and when cng becomes popular, add that unit later.
This will also help avoid nullification of the warranty.

Thanks for our friend's suggestion, but I already have AT honda city.
I am looking for a small car (AT).
