Default Chevrolet Spark - How good

Hi,

How good is the chevrolet Spark - Anybody has had the car for 20K kms or so?

Some questions

1. Whats the FE?
2. How good are the Gas dampers?
3. How good is the A.S.S [in Chennai]
4. How is the power and handling?
5. Can I do Handbrake turns?
6. Whats the Top Speed?

Cheers

Few answers to your questions

1) FE - I am getting 13-14 in Bangalore city traffic 18-19 on highway (50% AC)
3) A.S.S - So far so good (in bangalore)
4) Peppy engine, easy to drive in city traffic - But with A/C on I face bit difficult to drive.
6) Top speed I did on SPARK is 110 (just once) - vehicle is very stable, I have read in this forum somewhere that someone did around 140.

Nobody else would have this as a requisite.
I'm not surprised though.

For questions 4, 5, 6 --> May be you can wait for the Polo or Figo?

Interesting question there. I think the only car I attempted doing a handbrake turn was my first M800

Interesting car - the Spark.

Just go and take a TD, film doing the handbrake turn and upload it. That will be awesome.

now wouldn't that be interesting..

but seriously check your budget and test ride atleast 3 cars accordingly (may be 2 in your case if you are considering alto)..you will have the answer.
I have not driven it though but I have seen spark parked near my office in okhla estate (Black color with bhp sticker with really nice alloys) I bet he/she will be a great help.

hope he/she reads and responds.

Great VFM package anyways!!

HI There!

I have a Spark which hsa clocked 25K now. so far as your questions go:

FE - 14 KMPL with AC on throughout. But with a heavier right foot, it drops down to 10-12 KMPL. However engine does not feel the load of the AC. Engine is very smooth.
Top Speed - 140 is definitely manageable, and you donot realise it on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. But not really recommended to do it.
*** - Found Pashankar auto better than the Shreyans (Talera Motors) atleast in Pune.
Drving Experience - Good for cities. Pickup from signals is terrific. But you realise the power coming down as the engine revs higher. I observed the same even in a Wagon-R, but definitely more pronounced in a Spark.
This car is not meant for doing stunts anyway.

Regards,
Abhijeet.

@ABHIJEET: Thanks for the info.

I have more or less made up my mind to go for the spark as GM offers 3 yrs piece of mind. Hence all the rest will take a back seat.

I had an i10 automatic on list too, until i TD'd one today to find it utterly disappointing

The i10 manual is not peppy either and i'm beginning to realise that i've been spoilt driving more powerful cars for sometime!

Any clues on what freebies to procure from the dealer ?

Cheers

Headers, My Sparky has clocked 6.5K and so far so good. 2nd and 3rd gear ratios are quiet good and picks up fast. I didnt like the brakes of Spark (Not very effective).
