Default i20 crdi through CSD

hi,
this is my first post in the forum.
i am planning to buy a car through CSD as my Father-in law is a retired airforce officer.
as for now i have shortlisted i20 diesel magna,
now the problem is that i20 is not available through CSD as yet. some dealers say that it might be available after april/may, some say its not expected in near future.
meanwhile i am getting a car of dark grey colour (2009 made) in ready stock on which i might get some discounts also. (he is telling 6,57,000 OTR in DEhradun). i guess i might be able to squeeze at least free insurance from him as this car is with them since last 15-20 days and not yet sold.

now the problems are:
1. is this a good choice to buy i20 magna diesel or spending 70000 more for asta model is worthwhile.( my budget is already streched a bit)

2. should i even think about buying a 2009 model as the car would anyways be 2010 registered and i plan to keep it for atleast 6-7 years.

3. do you think the i20 diesel would be made availble through CSD in near future. should i wait for the car to be available through the CSD or buy a 2009/2010 model from outside.

4. is there a price hike to be expected in near future and i that case if it does not appear in CSD then double loss..

P.S. i can wait till april

thanks a lot.

A price hike is expected sometime thins month/ next month.

Compare the features Asta / Asta (O) offers on top of Magna before taking the call - Welcome to Hyundai Motors India Limited

Buying a 2009 model is a good idea considering discounts, et all - as long as the car has not be abused as a test-drive vehicle.

Not sure about the CSD Canteen, maybe someone else here can drop a line on that.

If you can stretch your budget, go for Asta. It is worth the extra cash. Go for a 2009 model only if you get some good discounts from the dealer. Otherwise buy a 2010 model car. It'll help you to get a good price at the time of resale.

The Asta is definitely a better option -don't bother about the extra cash-your safety is much more valuable.

I am sure you can squeeze good discounts on the 2009 model.

What options are you seeing through csd?and what is the kind of on-the-road price csd vs dealer?

thanks all for the valuable inputs..
the csd/ normal price difference must be something to the tune of 50k.
even i feel asta is a better option but seeing the huge difference between magna/asta feeling a bit reluctant.
cant decide. heart: asta; brain: magna

less than 10% extra - go for it-don't compromise on safety

the difference in amount between CSD and outside (ex-showroom) is to the tune of a lakh!! (am speaking from experience) of course, it also depends on which state the csd is located. TN, GUJ and Jharkhand are the cheapest but others are also not too far behind. on smaller cars (sub 4 lakh), the difference is to the tune of between 50-70 thousand. a 6 lakh car has a minimum of 90 thousand discount. so u decide.
