Thanked: Once

I have ridden both these vehicles and though we have an Alto at home, my heart still beats with the M800. Alto (Lxi) which we have, I found it to be more sluggish than the M800, probably the weight difference.

Secondly, I sincerly found that the space in the Alto is much lesser than the M800, I guess Maruti did this on the 800 by reducing the luggage space, because in Alto there is definitelly more space. I was sitting a few days back in a M800 and the rear seats were much more spacious as compared to an Alto. Ingress and outgress in both the front and rear seats were easier in M800 and my friend who is quite huge also countered saying that his M800 is much more comfrotable than our Alto.

All that I miss sorely is a good dashboard in the M800 and ofcourse I have heard that safety features are sore. The AC, hmm, I never felt underpowered with AC on on M800, but yes the lag was there in both the vehicles. This is my view, I can be wrong and figures may prove me wrong.

True ... One hand alto and 800 are actually in different segments...
Alto is much better in all technical ways....

(We own both Alto and 800)
But as said... 800 has more space .. TRUE
Alto is sluggish.... well probably a bit.. but it does have 7-8bhp extra... (though I have Alto Vxi )
800 is still much cheaper to own & maintain...

BUT thats it ... apart from the above there is nothing going in favor of the 800.
Alto has better Ac
better handling
better braking
better safety
better ride (once you manage to fit it)
1 more gear!!
IT WILL out-live the 800...
