Default Swift Zxi 2007, 18k kms for 4.6 lakhs?

Went with my wife to see the Swift. New one costs around 6 lakhs on the road, 2.5 months waiting period.

Went to the True Value dealer also. Though I saw a couple of 2006 Balenos with just around 25k kms each, they looked very faded and somehow didnt feel good looking at them.

There was a white Swift Zxi, 2007 model which had done 18000 kms. The previous owner had replaced the music system with a Panasonic which seemed to sound better than the one which comes stock on Zxi. He had also replaced the tyres with Goodyear 195/65/14 but the alloys looked stock. The AC (climate control) was very powerful. I just tried switching on the engine and revving it, seemed quite smooth. Paint looked overall good without any telltale signs of repaint.

Dealer quotes 4.6 lakhs. . But is it worth going down if he comes down to say, 4.3? Being TrueValue I dont think he will come down further than that. If this looks ok, I will do a more detailed inspection and test drive. What do you think?

OT: What got me thinking about going for a second-hand Swift instead of a new one is, seeing the Euro spec Fiesta being test driven on the way. It was almost like seeing an omen . This, along with Polo 1.6, Toyota's Etios, Nissan's lineup... somehow I feel that I should go for a 3-year commitment on Swift instead of 5-yr commitment. Also, with a used one the deal will be completed in around a week (for loan processing), and no waiting period.

What do you think?

Costly IMHO; moreover it's the old (but great) engine. Wont you be able to get new gen cars if you pay tad more? Peace of mind.

Yes, I am aware it is too costly. My question is, what would be the price it is worth considering? If the dealer comes down to say 4.2 to 4.3, is it worth inspecting the vehicle?

Vxi is 5.05, add music + alloys + good tyres + seat cover etc it will practically come to 5.6 lakhs.

You could start by listing the things that you'd want from your car on priority. From what you mentioned it seems that you'd definitely want alloys, new tyres etc. which is there in this Zxi already.

It'd also have loads of other features such as air bags, abs, climate control (just to mention three of the coolest) but is that really your requirement. e.g. airbags & ABS could be if you are more on highways but zilch if it'd be driven in the city.

Would request you to share a little more in terms of what you want out of the car and what all you could do without.

Thanks fine69. I am looking at buying a Swift with alloys, wider tyres (even 185 will do but the stock 165s on Lxi and Vxi seem too thin), a music system (basic one will suffice), of course a good AC, 12V socket, clock and if possible power windows too. And oh, left ORVM is a must for me.

My initial idea was to go for a brand new Zxi, but some sudden unexpected cash flow problems (read as unplanned expenses) combined with the fact that I would probably want to buy the new Fiesta hatch or Polo 1.6 or a similar car 3 yrs down the line, a used one seems to make sense compared to brand new one which will put me on a five year commitment along with a huge down payment.

Coming back to my question (sorry to be repetitive): what would be a reasonable price for considering the 2007 Zxi?

Will find a car w/o waiting period..zxi although is difficult
to find..

In 2007, you shall find stock audio missing as well as steering mounted controls, but rest remains the same. From true value you can assure your self that they are fleecing you by 50-60k for a fast moving cars. IMO 3.9-4 shall be best price if you are taking car from true value, but it shall be 3.8 in case from outside.

I think around 4.2 or 4.3 will be good.
Also true value charges a-bit on the higher side, because they do a proper check of the car before its sold, so from that point of view if you could negotiate the price i feel you can go for it ( this is my point of view)
cheers

Thanks much.

In retrospect, I am happy that I did not go for this car after reading this: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...s-trusted.html

I have booked a Figo diesel after much thought. If all goes well, I will post my "Initial driving impressions" thread this weekend.

According to me Rs 3.75L - Rs 4L would be the right price given the fact that there are already so many additions into the car and that its being retailed by True Value.
So I recommend you start with Rs 4L.
If you have some additional money is hand sure, Rs 4.2-Rs. 4.3L should be a good bargain.
Again make sure he guarantees you the free service that he normally does etc.

I had purchased a Swift ZXI last year May at 3.8L, ofcourse it had run for something like 22K kms. But for that it was in excellent condition. So, this one is a far fetched price.

Be cautious when buying form True Value. Why not better looking for a new car for that price range?

Thanks Joe. I have done exactly that, gone for a new Figo diesel as mentioned above.
