Default Another Car-What Makes Sense,A nano,Or a Polo?

Its not even a Week, since the Scorpio SLE Came in and we are already feeling the heat.
Its Just Too Huge for internal City roads of our hometown.
So we are thinking of a hatch, which will be driven Primarily within the City.
And Family approves of just 3 Hatchbacks, along with their respective colors(No need to think about the rest even)

1)Sunshine Yellow Nano LX

2)Red VW Polo

3)Yellow VW Beetle(Ahhh dream on,we just like it,and its totally out of budget, and not even a option).

Option 1-Buy a New Sunshine Yellow Nano LX

Option 2-Sell The Accent, and Buy a VW Polo.

Since we bought a Scorpio last week,we are on a tight budget.
so if we sell the Accent,we will have to shell out 2.XX odd lakhs for a new Polo.
Or we Can Buy a New Nano LX and keep the Accent.
Pour in your Views bhpians.

nano will never really be sufficient enough as a city car for someone who has been driving accents and scorpios. it might just feel too flimsy. Selling the accent and buying the polo seems a better option of the two. also look at other hatchbacks , from swift, figo etc till i20 as polo has huge waiting periods.

Why not just drive the accent and let it be a bit battered?

As is, buying a polo beside the new car feeling (for which scorp is there) you're losing money on the depreciation - why do you want to throw more money at a depreciating asset?

I dont want to let the Accent go,
problem with Accent is,everyone else in the family, finds it too low slung.

@hitanshi,you are right about the depreciation, and Polo may have a bad resale.
Hence a Nano seems to be a better better.
Dad loves it and mom is a new driver,so it will be a better choice, and i guess,we wont be losing too much on it,unless it catches fire

Don`t let go of the accent. Go in for a nano, it serves your purpose of a small mini hatchback for city use and also doesn`t need too much of the M factor. Plus like you said your dad loves it and I believe it will be just perfect for your mom.
And btw do install a fire extinguisher, it will take care of your fire problem.

I think Nano would be the best choice, especially in that lovely Sunshine Yellow colour!

That way, you will basically have 3 cars from three diffrerent segments serving different needs - Nano for the city, Accent for small trips and Scorp for the longer ones, though all of them can also cater to all three categories, if required.

An almost new Silver Nano LX is up for sale at Joshi Autozone, Chd.

Jaspreet Singh

@Jaspreet - agree with your suggestion. Buy the Nano and have all 3 cars.
But I recommend to use the Nano for strictly city based driving (thats what its best for). The car is too small and light to be used on the highway from a safety perspective.

@Jaspreet,sunshine yellow nano indeed,i have already planned to paint the rims black with a red lip
@Manik,check if you can get me a Sunshine yellow Nano LX,no other colour,we are getting ready delivery of the silver nano LX.
@Arenes,It will be used within the city, but it can be used to highway runs too,our very own Sam drove it down to Delhi from Bombay.
I have seen a Nano in Action on Nh1 i was crusing at 90 and nano was pulling further away from me

Nano, without doubt. It's cheap, to own and maintain. We still don't have pretty much a clue of VW's aftersales. Another thing in favour of the Nano is it's fuel efficiency. It's a very practical city car.

Hi Akshay,

Any updates on the Nano?

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm eagerly waiting for a CHD BHPian to buy a Nano so that I could get a long TD in the same!

Jaspreet Singh
