Default What car for a Lady?

Guys - I need your advice to help buy a new car for a lady who is a first time driver. The budget is below 3 lacs and the car will be used mainly for city commuting to office (not everyday) and to run errands on weekends with a small nuclear family.

I would put the main requirements in the order below.

1. Fuel economy
2. Low cost maintenance
3. Easy ingress and egress for elders
4. Decent seating space for 4 people
5. Good resale value

I am not aware of the recent changes in the prices of entry level cars (alto, Astar, Wagon R, Santro etc..)

Please suggest a good option.

First time driver, 3 L budget, city commute, I would suggest a Waggy or an Alto. Santro is next if not the two.

Go for a good used i10 or a Santro

It satisfies all the requirements as per your oder.

Dont ever think of any Maruti Car.

Choose betwen new WagonR and Hyundai i10 1.1. Both are lady-friendly, easy to drive cars.

Thanks all for the suggestions. The plan is to go for a new car. Not sure if an i10 or waggy or a santro comes within 3 lacs. Guess I will have to check on the prices first.

I dont think you will get any of the above mentioned cars for below 3 L unless you are looking at preowned.

Go for the santro or Waggy.Waggy is suitable for elder to get in/out

New car then, Alto is the only option!!

The only problem with alto will be point no "3. Easy ingress and egress for elders".

I don't think Santro will be below 3lakh, if at all you get one it will be a non-AC. Why don't you check out pre-owned WagonR? That will suit all your requirements.

Why not Spark, the best car in its category.

Easy ingress and egress.

A well refined, 4 - 5 seater car.

Priced similar.

not the crampy outdated Alto.

Alto fits in the budget. How long you plan to keep it before her first upgrade ? It is a good starters car.

Sure Spark is better than what I suggested but I don't think he will get one below 3 Lakh that too in Bangy!!

Would suggest NFS2024 to check on-road price of Spark in Bangy before finalizing. NFS2024 below 3 lakh is the on-road price that she is looking for or the ex-show.?

I think the best bet is Alto, though it over shoots the budget by 30-35 grand. Go for it, it has everything you ask for.

Wrong.

Check the Pune On-Road prices for both the cars.

Estimated On Road Price (1000cc, Chevy Spark) 320,968/-

Estimated On Road Price (800cc, Maruti Alto) 315,862/-

Chevy Spark is a better product for that extra 5K you pay.

Maruti has an "care a damn" attitude, and you wont even get a tissue paper as an accessory.

While Spark is fully loaded.

Spark makes a better decision compared to Alto.

We already have a running thread about Alto and Spark.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/hatchb...lto-spark.html

More than 96% have voted for Spark.

Nano did come to my mind but then did not suggest it as many are allergic to Tata
