New car costs more then 7 lakhs right? That is too much of a depreciation hit the owner is taking. Is it the face-lifted model?

July 2010 would be the pre-face lift.
It's better to be careful buying used i10's and Santros with low milege. People generally keep these car's for a long time. Just look at the classified's. There's are hardly any Santro's and i10's for sale as compared to Maruti's. Though Maruti sells more than Hyundai, the difference in second hand sales is much more. I never noticed this until a friend asked me to look out for a second hand i10. Finally he settled for a new one.

Can't be so much of a price difference in Bombay & BLR prices. My i10 Asta AT with sunroof et al cost me 6.05 or 6.10 on road. (pre facelift model)

Yes, there can be. Guna's figures are right. Thanks to the horrible roads we have, they are collecting massive road tax to fix it. But when it comes to spending it on roads, they get shy.

I was all ready to get an Asta AT, but the massive price difference between Asta and Sports is really daunting. I am going for AT sports instead.

ACI has quoted 7.2 OTR Bangalore for Asta AT with sunroof. Hyundai site mentions 6.04 ex-showroom.
What I am surprised is ex-show room Mumabi is 6.27 according to the site!

The i10 site strangely does not list a Magna AT (base AT model) anymore !
Is it discontinued ?

That really brings the starting price of an i10 AT itself to close to like 5.7 OTR ! Magna AT used to be around 5 OTR last I checked.

Almost a lakh of difference when compared to A-Star AT.
Quite a huge one, IMO.

yes there is no Magna AT now. The base model with AT is SPORTZ.
I have test driven both i10 and A-STAR and here you would be comparing apples and oranges. The two cars are miles apart and in a different category altogether. IMHO i10 features, engine, transmission is way better than an A-STAR.

I am in the same league, but I am contemplating on buying a used Santro AT vis-a-vis an i10 AT. Its for my mom and she is a new driver. I plan to keep that for a couple of years till she is comfortable with it and then pick up an i10 AT after that. Would this be a good option, or should I just pick up an i10 AT directly? We have had a 2001 Santro MT for over 7 years but she has never been comfortable with the gears although she likes the car a lot, so I am planning to get her this one.

Any suggestions that I need to think over? I have ruled out Astar AT, so that is not in the radar at all.

I owned a Sportz AT with kappa engine for 6 months in 2009-10 and sold it as I left for overseas. FE was around 10-11 in city with mixed A/C. But since you are not bothered about FE, there is no need to worry. This is a perfect car for crowded busy city traffic. I loved it and so did my wife. It really hurt us to sell it off. However, I did not find a market for AT in Kolkata. Finally sold it to a neighbor. You may check my ownership report in Team-BHP which is pretty detailed.
