AVOID, unless it is an emergency. Big time cheats in quality and quantity.

My choice in Bangalore South - IOC Pump in BSK bus stand, IBP opposite madhavan park , IOC pump next to Vijaya college on RV road and Kaveri in lalbag west gate ( over crowded most of the time ) .

Default make sure your car is suited for premium fuels

just read this article:
Howstuffworks "How do I know if my catalytic converter has failed?"

an excerpt from it:
Any additives or malfunctions that cause the mixture or the temperature of the exhaust gases to change reduce the effectiveness and life of the catalytic converter. Leaded gasoline and the over-use of certain fuel additives can shorten the life of a catalytic converter.

so , make sure premium fuel you may use does not harm your catcon.

Thumbs up Balakrishna Bunk at St. Mary's road

Hi all, I had taken my car for bodywash at Balakrishna BP bunk at St Mary Road, Chennai and noticed the manager was doing the mandatory daily testing of the fuel pumps' calibration. They used a 2 liter glass beaker and pumped 1 liter of fuel to test the pump's calibration
They were religiously doing this for each of the pumps. A cab driver next to me mentioned that they do this every day and one of the few PSU bunks that do this regularly.
No wonder my mileage has been consistent ever since I switched to this bunk six months back.

I have good experience with the following pumps in Pune.

1. BP COCO pump opposite to RTO office
2. HP pump on Ambedkar road, opposite to Venkys and Dorabjees.
3. HP pump in Shivaji Nagar at the end of the flyover.

Can some one list the best places to fill petrol in Chennai (apart from ones already listed)?

I filled up in IOC Arumbakkam (near Koyambedu) and the fuel quality sucks. Faced serious engine knocking with the quality of their fuel. And i had filled Xtra premium fuel.

I heard many bad stories about this bunk and hence avoid this bunk even though I stay close by. Remember it is owned by politician

DG Pump has the audacity to cheat even a 2 wheeler by upto 1 liter. My wife was filling here in her scooty and the usual trick of 3 guys surrounding and distracting. the counter starts at 1. when she points out they picked up quarrel and ultimately "settled" by reducing the fare by 30 bucks

Default Adulterated fuel from BP pump!

I filled up about 15 litres, a couple of days earlier at the BP pump on Kondhwa - Bibwewadi road. It was the most adulterated fuel I have ever come across!!!

My Chevy wasn't pulling even in first gear! The engine sound became so low and I had to literally step on the accelerator to get my car moving!!! And the third gear lost all its power. It felt as though I was driving on 5th gear at a speed of 35 km/hr. Wifey told me that my Chevy was smoking like a truck!!!

Punkekars, Never fill up from that pump!!!

Avoid the BP bunk on the Guindy flyover exit. It is located on the left just when you drive down the Guindy flyover from Kathipara towards the Pollution Control board office. The next bunk after this is an IOC bunk (few meters away) and sells better quality fuel.

I have had serious knocking issues and my throttle body had to be cleaned after i filled up at the above BP bunk.

In delhi a HP fuel pump was located in dhaula kuan, owned by an ex army officer, the pump was known for its quality and purity all over delhi. Sadly it was closed a few years back and now re opned is owned by some one else, i doubt the same stabdards still exist.

Lots of complaints about the IOC bunk on L B Road..

I almost always use this bunk when in Chennai. I always do a tankful with auto-stop, noting the distance since the last fill. The fuel filled always matches with my perception of that refill's efficiency (driving done on the last tankful). So far, I don't think they have cheated me with respect to the Indica.

Its a different story with my bike..they try and con all two wheeler riders.

Blue Thunder: St. Mary's Road is the road bang opposite the exit gate of Park Sheraton on Mowbray's Road (TTK Road). Balakrishna has been known for good fuel and good service for many years.

( Indina oil @ velechery it is better than most pumps in chennai).

But my best fuel experience is the Reliance Pumps!
