Default fiat a.s.s.

I chanced into Autofin Bowenpally quite by chance. We moved out there a week ago. I got lost searching for some petty stuff for my mom and ended up on Medchal highway. Saw a nice big board advertising free checkup for all FIAT vehicles at the Autofin site and decided to go in.

It was almost 6:00 pm and I was on my dads Zen. The lady in charge of scheduling recommended me to drop by on Sunday anytime after 9:00 AM.

The surroundings -

I dropped in at 9:30 am. They took me in without any wait. I was quite surprised to see the number of Fiat Vehicles that had turned up at that hour to take advantage of the free checkup. Saw atleast two Adventures and one S10. Was quite shocked to 4 clones of my car - hazel gray palio nv looking exactly the same. A elderly Indica owner got chatty and we had a long discussion about the Palio. The first question he ofcourse asked was - "how much mileage do you get?".

The checkup -

Before taking into the workshop the engineer opened up the hood and did some general checkup. After that in the workship they hoisted it up, had a look at the underside and suspension. After bringing it down they cleaned the air filter (blew some compressed air), checked and topped up fluids (brake oil, windscreen wash) and checked the lights.

The RHS headlight (H3) bulb was out. I was sent downstairs to their store to fetch it. The store gave me the appropriate unit (Rs. 45, philips, german make). Replacing the blub did not work. The service man called in an electrical specialist who opened up the fuse box. He fixed some wiring and checked the rest of the bulbs. The LHS rear brake light had gone off as well. I got it replaced for Rs. 10.

My LHS rear light unit is currently broken - A chetak hit the Palio fromt he rear at a red light. I got a quote of 1600 odd bucks by the storekeeper. I asked the electrician separately - he said that alternate units were available at Rs. 900 but were out of stock. I decided to postpone the purchase since the lights worked OK anyway.

The test drive -

After doing the checkup the service technician did a small test run on the highway. He identified bearing noise and informed me that the front side bearings had possibly worn out. The bearings cost cost Rs. 1700 each but were out of stock.

The farewell -

He gave me his cell number and told me that I could come in after calling him up on the spare parts. Also in case of any emergency I could call him up 24x7.

Overall Experience -

This is my first experience with these guys. Overall quite happy since these guys seem to be competent.

Will update after I get the bearings replaced.

Folks any recent expereinces, are AutoFin guys still good?

My Safari is due for service again, and my past expereince with Concorde and Malik makes me think of exploring other options. Also though Tejaswi has come up close to my house i am not sure how good they are.

Hey Zappo, thought that there were some issues in the last service that you had done from them, the 50K one if I am not wrong. Issues such as those sorted out?

Well, ok. Every good thing must come to an end. While Autofin was definitely not the Service Station to emulate by any means they were definitely one of the better ones in the Tata fold that I ever encountered.

Looks like its set to end now. Come this Sankranti, Autofin is shutting shop to Tata. Yes. Thats true. Autofin will become yet another Maruti Dealer. I do not know whether we really need as many in Hyderabad as we already have (I think over 6 major and a good few minor ones). However the loss will be for the Tata car owners as Autofin was pretty ok in my opinion amongst the others here.

An update here is that if you are planning to capture a Tata car in hyd may be you should visit Autofin. You just may get a good deal since they are shutting shop soon and still have some cars left with them.

Folks,

I picked my Indica Vista QDJ Aura from AutoFin in Dec 2010 and i have been satisfied with the way they have treated me.

The sad part is that their association with Tata has come to an end as pointed out in the forum.

What i would like to know from all here is where is a good place in Secunderabad (if any) where i can take my vehicle for availing the free service. The first one was done by AutoFin and i am at my wits end as to where i should get the subsequent one's done from.

Cheers,
-aa

Excellent experience !! Off late it has been reported by many users the exceptional service being given by a few TASS . I think they are somewhat increasing their reputation day by day . I have had a similar pleasant experinec with Pune TASS .

The only problem that TATA needs to address would be make this kind of service consistent across all their TASS and not just one . The quality of the sales/service of such TASS can be gauged by the fact that TEAM BHPians(hardcore autoheads) report such pleasant experiences and are ready to vouch for them .

Kudos to job well done !!

Hi

I'm planning to buy a new car and the choice is between a Figo titanium (enough for my family - me, wife and 2 months old daughter) and a Manza ABS (wife wants it :-| )

From what I have read elsewhere (and heard from friends who DO NOT own tata cars) Tata service is no good. However on of my colleagues has a Fiat and has been immensely satisfied with the Autofin guys.

Since Autofin is now gone, can any of you point to some other good dealer/service center?

This is the one thing holding me from going ahead and buying a Manza (the car is way over my original budget, and my sister has one of the first few hundred Figos on Indian roads and is very very happy with it - I'll be damned if I spend close to 2Lacs more for a car I don't need and run into trouble later)

I heard Autofin shifted to Maruti. May be that is why they are not responding to you.

This is befuddling! Tata-Fiat loses yet another top dollar dealer! First, BU Bhandari in Pune and now Autofin in Hyderabad!

Very strange indeed, IMHO. Why are the good dealers being booted out? It doesn't make any sense at all.

Used Concorde,Sanath Nagar for fifth service. Average service. But on a visit a week later to rectify malfunctioning power windows, met the GM and told him about inadequate attention to washing etc. He ensured spruced up interiors and a shining car within half an hour. Involvement of management staff on all issues is commendable.
