Default Puneites rejoice-Shell petrol pump by year end

After The pleasant experience at the shell petrol pumps in Bangalore along with quality of the fuel there, felt that we at Pune are missing out.So had an interaction with Shell India and following is the outcome.

Quote:
Dear Mr Rahul Kumar,

We're pleased to inform you that we are indeed looking at Pune and we are confident that you will be able to visit a Shell site in Pune before the end of 2007. Thank you for your encouraging words.

Kind Regards,
Shell India Private Limited

Good, They replied to my mail too a week or two ago. It seems like they are expanding. Apparently there is one pump about 20 KMs from myplace in Hyd, there is going to be one more within 6-7 KMs soon.

does Shell have refineries in India. Otherwise the base stock will come IOC etc and Shell will just put some additives and retail it.

If they have better quality as reported by many people, may be due to their better quality control.

I dont think there are shell owned refineries here.Shell however has a tie up with ONGC and its subsidaries.

As long as they give us a full liter of clean petrol without adulteration, that itself is an improvement over what we currently put up with.

Yes. Shell will be best as far as quality is concerned. I think right now in Pune, IBP is best.

I don't think any of them claim to do that. Naphtha adulteration is rampant across all brands of fuel.

In Hyderabad, a Shell pump is being build on the Madhapur-Tolichowki Highway road. I cross it daily on my way to office. I expect it to be operational within 1-2 mnths time.

this is october and the pump on that highway is not yet operational, each time i pass it , i wonder how long will take for them to start operations there(may be the site is under dispute there-see land prices there are soaring).
B.T.W. the shell india management are responsive enough, a few weeks back i mailed to their customer support asking octane details of their fuels..I got a prompt reply saying even normal shell petrol is of 91 octane number and shell super has only got some more additives in it...pretty impressed.
