What ABS gives me is the confidence to brake on corners - even hard, if need be. No antics of locking up your brakes and moving out of line.

@iridium - I am just worried about the drums not working as effectively as the disks as they wear. Of course, proper service should take care of this issue. I routinely get my brakes checked at each service.

Phew! That's all right then!

I don't think ABS should really change the way we drive or when we brake. I never give it a moments thought --- except that recently I found the car skidding and wondered why it seemed to have done nothing.

But if having it didn't make us feel a little safer I guess we would not have paid for it in the first place!

If 10 cars are speeding up in a line and if I have ABS and the rest don't I will be able to stop timely but the 9 behind will crash into my car... ABS is good if we drive at high speeds and if others have it too.... However it doesn't means that non ABS cars are not good or are riskier... Non ABS cars can also stop decently quickly. Just my 2 cents...

Precisely, so that I can continue to crib/complain further about Maruti/Pratham motor's sheer disregard for customers and their incompetency.

@Souljah - I think you should get your Getz and then drive in circles around Pratham...

Or would you like a second hand Vdi? ;-)

Good choice! From what I hear demand for DDis in Mangalore is not as high as other cities in the south so you can expect an prompt delivery. Just make sure you stop by the dealer every week or you will end up like me.

Good news guys.

Today I heard the good news from Maruti executive that, my vehicle is already alloted and will be shipped from Maruti by EOD. I will be getting the delivery by around Dec 5. Also the same I confirmed with my dealer. Now I am little bit relaxed and look forward for my new car. Also I have to start up with other formalities.

Thanks
Philip

Philjo like I said earlier during our phone conversation, press for the engine/chassis number as that is a sure sign of the car being alloted in your name. Not trying to discourage you!! I guess you have gone throught the right channels and got the car alloted

Im supposed to have the verdict on my car tomorrow. If they are going to delay any further Im so inclined to cancel (not that it will make a difference to them as they have a long que for VDi). Im thinking Feb/March next year discounts will begin

Thanks S0uljah. Actually I have verified this with the executive and there is a bit misunderstanding from my part since the RNS guy misstated to me. Actually the vehicle will be shipped from the factory only on 20th and then he will give me the Chassis & Engine numbers.

Also as discussed with you I have verified the interest part the 24% interest will be paid only on the booking amount (up to Rs.50000/-) from the 16th day of the booking. This is what the guy replied:

Quote:
Yes. we are paying 24% Interest on the booking amount from the 16th day and is only for Rs 50,000 only. Even if you pay full value of the car as booking amount, the interest will be given for Rs 50,000 only.
@s0uljah: Do you heard any update from Pratham?
