Angry Verna stolen, helped by Orion Hyundai Gurgaon

This incident is two months old,my friend Vikas gave his 3 month old Verna CRDi for service at Orion hyundai gurgaon, the car was to be delivered in the evening but we could not make it to the service center on time so delivery was postponed for the next day,the next day morning we went to pick up the car and get the delivery on time, everything was fine, then we leave the car at a private garage where i get my car maintained for interior drycleaning, took the car in the evening and parked the car in our basement parking,in night vikas noticed the key was a bit different worked only one side(the car did not have keyring when it went for service)upon inspection it was clear that the key was replaced we went to dealer to ask who replaced the key,the workshop manager took the responsiblity for the key loss and he said the key was lost the previous day so it was replaced ,upon asking for a new lock set he said that it was out of stock and he will get the same from okhla dealer by the next day, that eve the car was parked on the slip road near sahara mall on MG road and by the time we came back the car was gone. Police was informed and FIR was lodged.Police called people from Orion hyundai for interrogated them several times but nothing worked out. However we contacted the owner of orion hyundai ,at first he was not accepting any mistake by the service centre but later on some police pressure he agreed to pay the difference between Insurance amount and on road price and accesories.Vikas has now booked a black verna CRDi sx ABS from another dealer and will get the delivery next week.

Anshuman, I gather your friend's car was stolen, and Orion Hyundai had something to do with it. The details are hazy, because the whole post seems to have been compressed into 3 sentences. I'm out of breath reading it. Please try spaces and use the Enter key.

Unbelievable that Car service centers can lose the key and then the car gets stolen the very next day. Hell lotta foul play involved.

But orion hyundai have to be appreciated for taking the blame for the loss instead of this heading into another court battle which it easily could have. BUT, where the heck is the car ? is it that difficult to trace a brand new car , especially knowing that the key was lost in the garage premises.

.anshuman, Orion were responsible for misplacing the keys and they have given no valid reason for it. It's an insiders job or someone is attached to gang of car lifters.

They gave you the car after service and never informed that the key have been replaced, if you wouldn't have noticed it.

They changed your keys without intimating you. You are lucky that you observed it and contacted them before the car was stolen and manager admitted it. Was it mentioned in the service booklet that new key has been issues as earlier misplaced by service center?

If your car would have been stolen before you have had noticed the changed key, you would have never been able to find out the exact cause.

Orion is liable to pay and you should also file a case against them through your insurance company. Police should have investigated further rather then letting him off just by paying the balance amount. Who will pay for the accessories?

We should also advise all the members to check thier keys whenever they leave thier cars unattended or get them after service.

I will inform all my hyundai owner friends in Gurgaon about it and tell them to avoid orion in future.

What can we do if they make a duplicate Key and return the original back to us? We will never know that the duplicate has already ready with the gang.

This is serious stuff. You should escalate this to Hyundai India post-facto atleast; with a CC to the editorials of major newspapers.

Have your friend got it in writing from Orion Hyundai about the lost key? They may back track from this.

What will happen if the police trace down the car & it has some damages?

Giving back the car with keys replaced without informing the owner... how dare are they to do it

Iam sure it has to be the job of an insider. But why do they want to lift the key itself. Rather it is easier to take the dye and make a duplicate key.

They wouldnt have admitted if he hadnt noticed that the key was different?

Suppose that was the case, Imagine. The car would be gone, and the owner wouldnt have any clue about it.

Dont think the dealership is to blame. However, someone inside may be having bad connections.

How would that help ? Moreover when *they* were targeting a certain vehicle, they will come prepared to complete the task.

This is shocking!
Hyundai should cancel these kinda dealers. The management should be interrogated and the people who were responsible while this car was being serviced should be especially kept an eye on.

Glad to know that they have atleast agreed to pay out the difference. Isn't that a sign of some foul play?

Take the keys and try opening the doors of a car whose alarm has been "armed". Sure, you'll be able to open the door.. but you'll wake up the entire neighbourhood before the alarm can be deactivated.
