Question Brake and suspension work for 3.5 yr old 1.6 Ikon Zxi. Where to get it done?

My Ikon has done 28k Kms and the brakes have worn out somewhat and need replacement. Also i need the suspension checked to see if the shock absorbers are Ok or need repair/replacement.

I spoke to both Modi and Fortune Ford, both are quoting hefty rates and are not offering any discount on parts or labour.

Question is --
1) Is there a way to manage some sort of a discount from these dealers? If so what's the process?
2) Or can you recommend a better place to get this done.

Thanks.

Hello xbox360! My Ikon is in the same odometer reading band as you. Even I've faced brake weakness now and noises from suspension.

Upon giving it for 30,000 km service like last month, I asked Ford if an overhaul is required for the shock absorbers and the brake pads. They said about 10,000 km life is left in the brake pads, they shall be cleaned. And for the shock absorbers, they're due for replacement during the 40,000 km service.

For the shock absorbers and brake pads what were the rates you were quoted? Post them here and we'll tell you if they're the correct price or whether they're overpriced.

You could perhaps buy shock absorbers and brake pads from the outside market and get it fixed by your local mechanic, but I can't say it would be reliable because the quality of the parts you'd get outside. Installation would have to be good too.

I cried because I had no VTEC, until I met a person who had no 1.6 ROCAM.

Yes, as Absar said its is better to think twice if wanting to buy parts from outside and have it fitted on ur Ikon.

Ford dealers just wait for chance to point fingers...

Let me know what is the quote u have from Mody, I can try and get connected with people I know...

Absar,

From your experince till date do you suggest for Ikon owners to think of ford extened warranty post the expiry or?
