Thanks for the information John, but IIRC Anuroop's service centre was never very highly regarded. Still nice to know that someone has access to parts.

Cheers,

I've given my Siena Weekend for general servicing to Digimani yesterday. Lets see how it goes. Will post the feedback. If I'm not happy I guess I'll have to ask Ravveendrra for Srinivas' and Prabhu's contact nos.!

Thanks John, I have given my Palio for servicing to Digimani. It has clutch work also. My car has not come yet but My Iyer seems promising. He refuses to source any part from here. He gets everything from Fiat directly which is delaying the entire process.

I was kind of giving up on my Palio which is used by my wife but looks like its new revival for it.

My Siena has done 72 k kms ( 1.6 elx) & - It had got body work done at Malik cars when the trailer met with a accident. The Malik cars bodywork is good & painting excellent but very poor on technical diagnosis & due diligence
The car is in need of the below works :
- Front brake pads change - squeaking sound has started & these are the 2nd set ( replaced at 45k kms)
- Rear Silencer pipe damaged - I saw a 2 inch by 1 inch hole in the pipe - Malik cars said entire mechanism needs to be replaced & will cost 8k - i said no way
- Central locking mechanism not working - problem with fuse - never got a callback for the replacement fuse
- Wipers not working - Malik cars said problem with the motor & said it would take 6k to replace the mechanism - i said no way

I am open to using a independent garage as long as the price is decent & mechanics knowledgeable. Except for the brake pads I dont think I should replace all other parts .
Any suggestions on where I should go ?

Contact My Iyer on 09000615456. I give my Palio D to him for servicing though he could not resolve my central locking issue. For that i have got another good mechanics number whom i will be contacting this Saturday.

I get my Uno and Palio fixed with Stag Motors in Lower Tankbund. They are dedicated Fiat independent garage and are pretty good.

Else you can go to New Mars in Moosapet.

Hello Everyone!

I had recently purchased a Palio 1.9 Diesel (used) and was really looking out for a specialist Fiat Mechanic.I was very lucky to be introduced to Solar Cars in Moosapet. This guy is a Fiat expert and i was not surprised to see all kinds of Fiats in his workshop. Also this guy does not believe in sweet talk and rather believes in talking sense.I had already been victim to Mechanics (One Mr Raja in Hitec city for Alto and Mobil 1 Family car care in Hafizpet for Lancer GLD).However my experience with Solar cars has been overwhelming for his service and responsible attitude.PM me if you would like to check this guy out.

Hello fellow BHPians,

After asking around for a while and having found myself cheated by various mechanics in the Gachibowli area, I decided to give Srinivas (9848443769) from the Gandhi Bhawan area a try for carrying out some long overdue work (hardened power steering, worn-out clutch, some funny suspension noises) on my 2006 Ford Fusion 1.6.

I was hopeful that I can completely trust this guy as he came highly recommended. Since, I am relatively new to Hyderabad, I trusted him to source parts for me as well. However, after having dealt with him I am very disappointed. Unfortunately, though he may be THE FNG guy for some in Hyderabad, for me he has presented himself as yet another crook mechanic.

Like most mechanics I have dealt in the past, he too used the same tactic to try and dupe - your car is out of production and parts are not easily available difficult to find, and I know some genuine, honest people who could get parts at reasonable prices.

Before getting to him I had made inquiries at the local Ford service centers and the cost of clutch overhaul was quoted as follows:

1. Clutch Plate - Rs. 5800
2. Clutch Release Bearing - Rs. 1800
3. Gear oil + Labour
========================
Total Ford A.S.S. estimate = less than Rs. 1000

However, this guy went ahead and changed the clutch, which he said he procured at Rs. 9600 (Clutch+Release Bearing), plus gear oil (Rs. 730), plus conked drive shaft (Rs. 1100), plus random parts of which I know precious little, plus Labour (Rs. 3000). This labour includes other stuff such as oil change, fixing a small front suspension issue, and fixing some cabin noises.

The story he told me was that my car has European parts in it and they are of a better grade. And hence he sources a LUK Ford Ikon 1.8 diesel clutch plate assembly for me which is Made in Germany, and not Made in India. I believed him until I made a call to some stores in Opera House Mumbai area (I was looking for a Power Steering Pump, so I enquired about the Clutch assembly too). I was told that the above parts could be had within Rs. 7000 max. Appalled, I checked the local market as well and figured that the same parts could be had within Rs. 7500.

When I politely questioned him about this difference from the Ford A.S.S. quote and quotes from various vendors, he started weaving the same story again - European parts superior vs. Asian parts inferior. Trying not to offend him by saying that he is lying on my face (my car is still with him), I tried to assert that this has to be a mistake and he should check with his part supplier once again. No avail.

So, I decided not go ahead with him with the Power Steering repair, and thought that I must flag this issue. For power steering he jacked up his quote from Rs. 12000 to Rs. 14000 + plus labour, and that it needs to be sourced from Mumbai, blah, blah, blah.

To his credit, as Ravveendrra had mentioned in his Palio GTX post (Fiat Palio GTX 1.6 acquired 2nd hand Edit: Pictures of Painting Process on Pg9), this guy has a good knack of figuring out mechanical issues. At least that's what I could figure in my few interactions.

It is really sad to see that he too is a crook like most so called 'Independent Garages' are.

I hope he realises that by being the honest FNG he could have had every Car enthusiast flocking to him and he could have gone on to become what New Mars and Mr. Prabhu are in Hyderabad. (I haven't been to them, but I see that Mr. Prabhu seems to THE auto repair guy in Hyderabad.)

Some BHPians would argue that I should have sourced the parts myself, instead of ranting over here. However, I am a person who like to believe in people wholeheartedly, and esp. when this person came highly recommended - I decided to blindly believe him.

Nonetheless, fellow BHPians be warned and don't believe anyone blindly. Only get into major repairs after having satisfying yourselves with the parts pricing + serving cost from both the A.S.S. and the 'recommended' FNGs in your city.

Yes, they do understand cars very well, including Fiats. Similarly, Prabhu too understands cars very well. Both Srinivas and Prabhu are good at diagnosis and outling a course of corrective action to be taken.

Srinivas did most of the work on my Palio GTX. I went to Prabhu of New Mars as Prabhu was able to source some parts that Srinivas was unable to.

I am extremely happy with both Srinivas and Prabhu. In future I intend to use both for my cars. For all mechanical stuff i.e. engine, gearbox, suspension etc. - the car will first go to Srinivas.

Srinivas and Vaman are a small outfit who give personalised attention.
Ravvs, I think You haven't been to Srinivas in a while now. I suspect there could be many like me who, based on the rave recommendations on Team-BHP, went to him for jobs, but in turn got cheated. However, as they are not a part of the forum, they are not able to provide feedback/share their experience.

So, much as I hate to admit it, Srinivas too is a crook. Full of lies and deceit. The next time you visit, perhaps a rebuke is overdue.

Default Repair Advice needed: Hyderabad guys pls respond

Hi

City: Hyderabad

I am posting on my friend's behalf.

He has an i10, 2009, 41000 kms run.

The car was unused for the last 6 months. Now it will be casually used without clocking too much mileage.

H.A.S.S has quoted the followed: (Parts / Labour)

Headlight panel 7000 / 1500
Lower Arm both sides 3600 / 700
RHS dry shaft boot 800 / 300
RHS Shocks 2000 / 650
Dust Cover & Insulators 4600 / 750
Drive belt 1500 / 500
Steering rack 9000 / 1000
Coolant 1200 / 250
Link Rods 1700 / 450
Balance Rod Bushes 400 / 650
Clutch Overhaul 0 / 6500
Tyres 16400

Concern:

1) Should so much money be invested on the suspension?
2) Clutch OH @ 41000 kms?

Any trusted mechanics who can get the job done in lesser cost?
I have already referred to the TEAM BHP directory for hyderabad.

All this labor is due to non usage or he had pending work on the car? Some of the parts like steering rack should not fail so early in life of a car. Try searching on the forum, there are couple of hyderabad workshops being discussed already.

I'll have to ask about that. In my opinion too a steering rack shouldn't fail like this.
