Default Globe Toyota , Chandigarh (mohali )

I got my Toyota Qualis serviced from Globe toyota mohali . First of all , the washing of the car was horrible . So i called them up and told my problem .
They sent an apology letter saying that i can come whenever i want to and get my car re-washed . But then i thought just leave the matter and move on. But from the past few days , I've been seeing OIL dripping on my driveway . I ignored it . But today i saw a lining of oil on the bonnet . I opened it and to my shock , what i saw was this !

NO OIL CAP on the engine ! Oil all over the place. I got shocked and so damn worried that if the engine had ceased , what would have happened?

And the level of the oil was ZERO!

All The rubber lining inside was ruined .

Here are the pics :

Nope . I just checked the washing . Didn't know something like this can happen :P . But now i've learnt from this experience . " No matter how good the reputation of the servicing section of the showroom is , mistakes happen!"

Hi Malhotra,

Sure this is a freaky incident. I think the cap would have been placed (not screwed) on the top and might have fallen off. But as you said, you are extremely lucky. In case you had set off on a long drive immediately after service, you would have been in real deep trouble, stranded on the highway making frantic calls to the service centre.

Please post the photos along with your service invoice to Toyota and i am sure you would get a good response from them.

MODS: Please move this thread to the "Indian Car Dealership" section

If they were so kind enough to send an apology letter, I am sure they will take is a little seriously. Yeah, as some one mentioned, it's good that nothing happened.

However, to err is human. May be it was your oil cap that day ;O)

Cheers,
Jai

Sad, whenever I take delivery of my Safari after servicing, I ensure that I open the bonnet have a quick glance inside, but I guess it needs more than a glance after such things start happenning at Toyota.

DO NOT drive your car, desipite what anyone says. Do not even start the engine until your oil has been topped up.

Also, how much have you driven it, and any idea how low the oil was when you did?

Thats a clear case of carelessness if the service center left it that way, Another possiblity is the they left the cap loose and it fell off due to vibrations. Its good you got to know about it before the engine seized. Did you complain the service manager about this issue?
