Folks... can ICE be insured??.. if so whats the process??

Yes, I went about asking for insurance and they asked for bills. With the kind of money some friends here spend on ICE, insurance is really essential.

I asked one of them today... all they wanted is a list of equipment, the serial numbers and the price... and they said they will revert with a quote...

Hmmm... will have to read the fine print on that one!

and remember if it does get stolen they will only offer the depriciated ammount so find out what the depriciation on ICE is too?

Pioneer AUTOCOP gives one year theft insurance for the HU. Is it for real or just an eyewash? Anyways I have sent the request form.

You can have an insurance policy for ur ICE and no bills are needed.. Just the values at which you purchased them and then they will tell u a premium for the same.. New India Assurance does it coz I have done it with my cars..

i am gonna go tomorrow to vitesse and check i bought my car from them.. the vitesse at nehru planetarium.... and will post what they say.. also do they all depreciate by 50 % ?? every single insurance company ?? cause that sucks.. .. any suggestions on that guys ?? help reqired.. as i am gonna go get my ice insured as well...

nope, bills are not necessary. only the model numbers, date of purchase & the purchase value. but depreciation is big in electronics, so beware, do not loose too much money on the premiums.

This is not a discussion as to whether insuring grey stuff is possible or not.
It is most definately possible.. TBhp member Subbarao for example has his Sony HU insured.

Sometime ago there was a post here regarding Insuring ice even if it was purchased WITHOUT Bill/Warranty etc.
I have searched but cant seem to dig it up.. if Im not mistaken it might have been Evo6 or one of the mumbai/pune members who provided the info.

My friend who lost his ICE from his Zen last year has invested in a decent system again and wants to minimize the loss if it happens again.

I have always had my ICE insured. I can remember in 1989 when I insured my ICE for 1L. The valuer would not belive it till I shwoed him the bills.

I have heard of a similar situation. Somebody I know insured a 80,000/- rupees system,as part of the car insurance. After paying the premium for 3 years, one day his sytem was stolen.

He was paid a pittance for it. They make a little noise when accepting the policy and a lot of it, when the time comes to pay up. Be careful.

Hmmm, most definately sounds like the norm !!! Damn leeches.

Still the question remains how one goes about insuring the aftermarket ICE...
