It is covered under insurance. But one has to give prior intimation to the company before insuring the car.Atleast one of my friend had to do this recently before insuring his car with Tata Aig.Have no clue about the rest.

Note From Moderator - Hi Suprise, please follow up your question in the original thread once again, rather than posting the same question in two threads. Thanks.

Yup, as X machine said ,it is covered under the insurance .. but what you get is 50% ,the reamining 50% is to be paid by you cos it comes under the plastic/rubber parts .

As Beemer said, it is covered, but only for 50% under the senseless rule that prevails in India.

Cost of Skoda Airbags
Passenger: Rs.53,148,
Drivers side: Rs.27,999
Module: 16,487
Seatbelts (have to be changed after the airbags have deployed:Rs.5,763 x 2
Dashboard (has to be changed due to stupid design!):Rs.45,266
Total cost:Rs.1,54,426.00 + 12.5% VAT
Look on customers face when he see's the bill: Priceless!

Holy Cow thats almost 2 Lac rupees??? Just for an Airbag change, plus there has to be major external damage if the airbags are deployed?? That adds to around 3 Lacs for a Skoda (Heard Spares are costly) and 50% of that will be 1.5L.

Replacing the airbag is one of the most expensive things in the car. The whole dash, steering and the airbags should be completely replaced. Now after seeing the bill, u mite think ur better off without the airbag

Atleast u won't have to die paying the money...2lacs just for the airbags is way too much, and that too excluding the other damages..

I'm not sayin its useless...its absolutely necessary in ALL cars...period

I was asked to pay 3.5 lacs if i had to get my car repaired .. The total cost of repair passed by the insurance co was 9 lacs (approx) .. The cost of the dashboard/airbag(along with other small no of accessories) alone was 2.5 lacs ,i was asked to pay 1.25 lacs(for the dash/airbag alone)..
But i had some other ideas and i did sc**w up the Insurance co. big time . They tried to do the same with me but i had to take the other route and luckily i succedded in that ..

p.s You know what ,by now we all know how these insurance cos s***w us and give us the hard time but the other side of the coin is that if we want/decide to do the same with them ,it aint that difficult ..
we can really s***w them up Big time(the only thing you need is a lil luck by your side) and when i say big time ,i mean it .. but as we all belong to good families,we avoid doing such things but as the law stands in our country ,we can give them a hard time (provided we 've that luck by our side) .
