Thanks GTO !

My reactions:

Tata's Indica and Indigo seems to have hit a low. with so many variants to offer, 8000+ for the hatch and sedan are mediocre.

Guess Fiat is going steady.

Honda City! Is the Vento effect real or Tsunami's toll?

Santro at 8K plus! This sweet lil car sure has the fan following.

I am sure new verna will set the sales charts afire!

That's brilliant numbers yet again by VW Polo, Hyundai i10/i20, Maruti Swift/Dzire, Tata Nano and VW Vento. Sadly, dismal numbers for Maruti A-Star, Tata Indica and all Hondas.

The City I guess might not be able to recover at all, the Japan earthquake not helping matters either. I would not rule out the possibility of the all-new Hyundai Verna taking over the lead from Vento. That is one red-hot segment now.

- Nano numbers should bring in cheers to Tata and all its fans. At this rate it should soon become the second best selling car in the country

- Indica numbers should worry Tata though. Less than 5K including the much publicised eV2!

- Dzire selling more than Swift! Imminent launch of next gen Swift effect?

- I20 selling as many as Santros? Awesome numbers for Hyundai.

- What is happening to Tata Venture? I thought this will bring in decent numbers for Tata

My observations-
  • Nano finally past 10,000 mark.
  • Vento ate up the City sales. 2866 vs 1542. @Honda- start thinking about Diesels.
  • Difference between Polo and Vento is less than 1000 cars.
  • Cruze going great, Civic down, Laura stable and Altis not leading anymore(Jap quake??).
  • Passat at 196 units is already ahead, Superb at top spot but for how long?
  • Cedia= Just 8 Units, Outlander 42. Poor performance by Mitsubishi.
  • Kizashi failed to take off, down with just 35 cars.
  • Swift + Dzire = 22k+ units.
  • Santro, i10 and i20 doing well.
  • Micra 1198, X-Trail 2, Teana 7. I thought Nissan was looking at volumes with Micra.

City at 1500 and Vento at 2800 !!!
City's figures are going downwards and with two new launches coming up, its gonna be quite a battle in that segment.
Beat figures are too low. Maybe the diesel variant should settle things.
Cruze beats Altis!!!
Even Figo numbers seem low at 6000+. IIRC it did 7300+ some time back.
Quite surprising that the 8-9 year old Santro is doing quite well. Though a major facelift + updated interiors would shoot up the figures!

Very interesting to see that Honda numbers stand at 2012 units which is below the Fiat count of 2049. Honda needs a serious strategy to compete with Vento/Verna/new Fiesta.

More Vernas sold than the formidable ANHCs!
More Dezires sold than Swifts!
Alto returning close to pre- K10 numbers after a long long time!
Nana finally climbing into 5 digit figures!
Adventurous April this!

There is drastic sales drop almost for every manufacturer be it Honda, VW, Maruti. Hardship continues for Honda, their sales mark is lowest in recent times. You may call that Vento/Fiesta/Verna/SX4 effect or the recall effect/tsunami effect/lack of diesel whatever, quite good number of excuses for Honda. Vento sales has also dropped by good margin i.e. 1100 units.SX4 sales also dropped by 1500 units as compared to last months. Not a good month for every manufacturer.

Let the Verna, Fiesta roll out this month and next two months sales figures will be interesting to watch.

GTO Thanks for the data again.
Observation from my side:

Looks like the Fiesta Classic makeover is not helping Fiesta's sales
Omni Selling 7577 is great numbers indeed.
Nano crossing 10K is that the first time?
Etios clocking in 4657 great.
Figo beating Indica again this time, despite passing around a year. Looks like Ford sure has a winner.
i20 clocking more than 8k again. Will this ever come down

The Verna would roll out this month and we can safely place our bets that it would be off to a very good start. But the Fiesta wont be out for atleast 2 more months. But either which way you look at it, there is no good news for Honda anywhere

Swift selling close to 10K. Mind you this is 6+ years after launch. Speaks a lot about Maruti suzuki.
Honda sales down big time. This is definitely not because of Tsunami. Because normally the imported parts (read high lead time) have a stocking period of 45 days. Definitely people looking else where.
i20 at 8K, Santro at 9k, i10 at 12k. Dream run for Hyundai. They are approaching their peak volumes with i20. If sales grow be prepared for a waiting period.
Tata not that great. They need to concentrate on their marketing efforts with the Vista. Its definitely their cash cow.
Fiat, well they need to concentrate on their marketing efforts, hope for word of mouth marketing to work. However, they can atleast be contended that the volumes have remained stable.
GM can be happy about Cruze, but definitely worry about Beat. Bring on the Beat diesel. Most of the volumes from i10 and WagonR will move its way.
Skoda can be happy about their Fabia sales. Just goes to show how good cars can be market duds.
VW are doing good. Vento has definitely changed the market perspective. But the attitude of dealerships have to change. They cannot continue for ever saying "German" and try to look down on the buyers.

Probably due to the discounts offered, Spark sold more than the Beat.
The Beat though being a VFM package and offered with a LPG variant, is still not doing very well. Yes, the diesel would increase the sales of the Beat, but still, GM India should not depend only on the diesel variant and do some introspection.

I have always said that the Beat radical looks won't be digested by majority of the middle class junta (unlike Cruze which targets a different segment). That is the reason why Spark is still Sparking. And mark my words. It will continue to do so.

Good morning Honda. Wake up dear.
