Interesting article! If the current Captive is not able to do 100 units a month, how is the new one at a higher price point supposed to better the sales? Captiva is definitely a good option in the 20 lakhs price range, but if the price is going to go up, we have to wait and watch as to what is the prospective clientele is going to be. With the new Fortuner launched with the auto box, there wont be many takers for this machine IMO.

Chevrolet seems to be making the right moves (Diesel Beat, new MPV, new hatchback etc) recently along with providing value for money. The only thing they have missed so far is aggressive prizing the Captiva. Now the new aggressive grille, it has the butch looks to entice the indian SUV buyers! I am still keeping my fingers crossed that they will prize it well to fight fortuner!

Chevy Captiva should follow the Fortuner way to be produced in India and hence gain immense market share with very aggressive pricing.

Even the CKD route can help them Launch the face lifted Captiva with a price that is 3L lower than Fortuner and sell 1000 units a month. CKD Captiva 4x2 with auto box can be profitably priced at 15L ex showroom. This price will get them 1.5K sales per month from the existing XUV + Fortuner+ D sedan customer base

I couldn't find any other relative latest threads, so posting it here.

Saw the brand new Captiva facelift this afternoon in Whitefield parked on the roadside with a For Regn number plate. Chevrolet hasn't launched it yet into the market, has it?

Sorry for the crappy pics from phone as I was driving with my child onboard and couldn't stop to get a better one.

Chevrolet launches the Captiva Facelift

General Motors India yesterday launched the upgraded version of its SUV, the Chevrolet Captiva 2.2 AT.
The Ex-showroom Delhi prices of the Chevrolet Captiva variants are:-
• Captiva 2.0 MT INR 18,74,062/-
• Captiva 2.0 Xtreme INR 19,48,347/-
• Captiva 2.2 AT AWD INR 24,59,000/-
The 2.2-liter engine delivers 186.5 BHP @ 3,800 RPM and 424 Nm @ 2,000 RPM torque with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Flexi Seating arrangement is made to accommodate seven adults; the 3rd row can also be folded down to carry additional luggage.
The vehicle is equipped with 235/65 R17 tyres mounted on alloy wheels. Other features include leather seats, 8-way power driver's seat, cruise control, third-row HVAC, an electric parking brake, rain-sensing wipers, 6-speaker audio, sunroof and a dual-compartment sliding driver’s armrest.
Six airbags - driver and front passenger airbags, seat side and roof side airbags are part of the standard safety kit. The Captiva features a four-link independent rear suspension system and MacPherson struts up front, along with a level ride suspension system that automatically maintains ride height under differing load conditions.
Priced at nearly 6 lacs more than its basic version, the Captiva 2.2 AT is expensive where the entry-level variant is reasonably priced.

Older one of course. They are trying to clear the old stock and make way for the face-lifted model

Except for the engine, that's not a lot of difference. Only ones I could spot are 3rd row AC and sunroof. However, at 27L on road, its sure to be a market dud. We purchased one last February for 21L. Its a 2.2 AT, and as of now I am pretty satisfied with the car. Already run 17k kms.

Not sure what Chevy is trying to do here, with its already low sales numbers.

And yes, there does seem to be a larger number of older Captivas on the road lately, perhaps owing to the discount they are providing..

IMHO, its a car with decent performance, and very good interiors and comfort. Overall, 8.5/10, but undoubtedly over-priced.

Autocar had this article yesterday. 2 Lakhs discount for the old model. The new Captiva also comes with the same 2.0 Litre engine for the manual versions. Could be a good buy if Chevy reduced price by another 2 Lakhs

Quote:
GM launched the facelifted Captiva two days ago but the company is yet to clear stock of the previous version. So to entice customers, the pre-facelift Captiva is being given away with a massive Rs 2 lakh discount approximately. Only the manual variant (LT) is in stock though. Originally priced at Rs 19.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), it will now be available for Rs 17.26 lakh.

The refreshed model that was displayed at the Auto Expo in January was expected to be launched in the first quarter of the year, but GM pushed back its launch date to sell the batch of Captivas that were already imported. A slump in sales because of a downturn in the market resulted in fewer models getting sold than expected. Only 88 units were sold between March-May, 2012.

The new Captiva will initially be available in the top-end automatic variant only and will be sold alongside the outgoing model. The manual transmission variants will be added to the line-up later, possibly after the stock of around 140 units of the old batch gets cleared.

Chevy has still not bothered to update their website with the new Captiva !!

Are they even serious about this car? I haven't even seen any reviews online.

The Website is still showing the images of the Old Captiva. The New Engine Specifications are available. I wonder what the Marketing Department is doing? No Ads, No Tv Commercial. @ 27 Lakhs on Road, another dud?

The dealers have been instructed not to push the new one till stocks of the old captiva are over. i got mine two days back, and chevy still has about a 100 unsold old captivas at the Guj plant. they are offering a killer deal if anyone is interested. The new one will see a marketing campaign around Diwali. I saw it in the flesh at the dealer stockward and it looks very very imressive. Manual 2L will be launched around diwali as well for 18.75L
