700cc Single?
It can't be, it most probably would be a 2 pot (inline or V)Dicor engine.
Hope the NVH level is at least suppressed to the level of the present petrol version.
Any news about the CVT A/T in the Nano diesel?

Good scoop. Though a single cylinder 700 cc motor sounds hard to believe. I wonder what the NVH levels on the car would be. The petrol Nano itself has poor NVH characteristics. At around 2.25-2.5L OTR price levels, the car should do well.

The pics posted on post 1 are way too old taken from motorbeam. And sorry to dampen your spirits, the diesel nano will be launched not before mid 2012. It will surely have 2 cylinder diesel.

The engine is actually half of the 1.4 TATA DICOR, i.e. with 2 cylinders.
35BHP is good enough for such a small car, and will surely boost the sales of nano.

What is the source of the info?
also please let us know if it was specifically a DiCOR. Tata has moved on from the dicor badging elsewhere, and DICOR was used earlier because tata used delphi common rail equipment, but not that this is a bosch setup, I dont see anything stopping tata from calling it a CRDI. Something about the naming does not add up

+1 to that. How did Motobeam find out that it is a Dicor? No visible signs/labels on the test mule.

Even I think so. Their preferences are 1) fine tuning Petrol version, 2) Launching Nano Euro car and then 3) Diesel version

Its actually a TATA Indica Dicor Engine Cut into half...

My mech has serviced 2 TATA Ace engines with one Engine Rebuild kit from the Indica Diesel.

So more likely the 2 cylinder Ace engine with the CRDI unit plonked in. If so, why a delay. Probably because they are finetuning it before launching the Hottest Indian Diesel Mini hatch.

are you sure? I believe the earlier consensus from the earlier diesel nano thread was that an all new bosch block was being made, not one from the half indica (ace) engine

Note from Mod : The content in the opening post seems to be mere speculation, and contrary to what has been reported by reliable sources thus far. Until more concrete information is received, this thread is closed.
