Mitsubishi's position in India is worse than that of Fiat. At least Fiat is trying. These new launches are disappointing. In fact, disappointing to the Mitsubishi fans, not to mention the common public. Mitsu needs some numbers in the 'volume' segment to have a serious future here.

For Outlander, they would need a diesel motor more than 7seats config.

Totally agree with you on that /\ but going by the fact that the present Pajero is at almost the same price point as the present Fortuner. I doubt if the Pajero Sport would remain at the same price point. From the look of things it would be higher than the Fortuner..

The first amongst the new launches is the Veer (does anyone remember Salman Khan's flop) CV. Here is link of Motorbeam report on the same:

Hindustan Motors Launches Veer CV In India | MotorBeam - Indian Car Bike News & Reviews

It's 0.8 tonne small CV launched in both BS3 & BS4 version in East India for the time being.

I liked the bonnet design & feel that it can be incorporated in new Ambys, but the Jailhouse grill & overall proportions do not look encouraging at all... probably good for Amby lover CV owners.

I see an opportunity here (may be just dreaming)
A substantial price cut on the current pajero.
There is no doubt that currently its over priced

Say Mitsubishi gets the new Pajero sports/diesel outlander to compete with the fortuner and likes

And price the current sfx around 14-15 lakhs or perhaps even lower. Enthusiasts will love that over safaris and scorpios ( a pajero is a pajero afterall )and its justified to ignore that archaic engine at that price.

Not to ignore the mouth watering deals thats would come in the used market as a result

I believe its perfectly doable and profitable for them ( how much more do they need to earn out of the old platform) , Only thing they need to have is some real business sense

i am ready to give an arm for this...Ok, a leg too.
I mean why don't companies decide based on common sense? That's why I don't like 'board room decisions'. It doesn't take a super expert to tell them this this will fly off the shelf.

Thumbs up Re: HM-Mitsubishi : A slew of launches coming up-Amby with Crdi

Hi Guys,

It seems that HM is finally waking up. " Veer " is trashy, but read this:

"...
What will change are the engine, transmission and suspension sytems. The Ambassador will have a peppier engine of 1.5 litres and 1.8 litres respectively for the hatchback and sedan. While the company is due to launch a BS IV-compliant petrol engine for the current Ambassador by the end of this fiscal, the new Ambassador will have a CrDi engine (diesel motor) that is being sourced from Europe. "

Sketchy details at best. While a few articles say the new car is based on a new platform, others say the same old platform is used.

The case here is not about new launches, but Mitsubishi should strongly consider going on thier own. HM is just killing them and definitely not doing any good for their sales or promotion efforts.

The Fluence is not creating any ripples as yet, but just look at the perception the car is now getting, since it snapped ties with Mahindra. Simialr way, we can also see Fiat taking a beating in their second and most probably, but hopefull not, their last innings.

Forget car launches Mitsu. Launch yourself independently first

Maybe for Cedia and Outlander like how Skoda shares its engine with Laura/Yeti/Superb.

If this happens, Mitsu dealers gotta get bigger sales team & after sales support.

Please surprise us Mitsu! ( well not with a nasty price though!)

After seeing this thread I had hoped that Mitsu had woken up and decided to get the latest Gen Lancer to India and I would have a car to upgrade to in a year or two. But it looks like Mitsu continue to make the same mistakes as before and dont give a damn about the Indian market...

The biggest dud of all is them not bringing the Colt here. Colt sells pretty well in other Asian markets anyways and it shares the engines too.

Mitsubishi must bring in Colt, Lancer EX, ASX, Galant, Grandis, Strada and Pajero Sports from their international stable. Also, importantly they must remove old horses Lancer & Pajero to keep pace with rest of the market and with the refreshed line up improve their brand equity in India. If not, they should simply shut their shop in India.

Mitsubishi is cash strapped globally. Also looking at the recent Tsunami and market conditions all companies are trying to keep their liquidity high. So bringing the complete range will not make sense.

It makes sense for them to look at Lancer, Colt, ASX, Delica and others based on the same platform to keep costs down.

Why Mitsubishi continues to marinate along with HM is completely beyond me.

It's like they're in shackles.

There was much talk about HM/Mitsubishi introducing the Galanat sedan several years ago. There was talk and even pictures of the new Lancer circulating the web.

And there is a fantastic hatch called the 'Colt' being sold in other markets, that could do really well in India. The new Lancer could crush the C segment completely. The Civic, Corolla, the Verna, the City, the Cruze would all be selling that much less, if Mitsubishi had gotten their act together and began selling the new Lancer here.

C'mon Mitsubishi. We enthusiasts are starving!

I'm sick and tired of this.
Let's all start a movement to rid Mitsubishi off HM in India and get them to go solo.
