Pictures of the Palio in disguise posted in post no. 1 . The car was taped all over and badging was missing. The guy saw me clicking and tried to escape but with that traffic jam no ways. He even asked what I was doing I ignored him

Got a call from TATA sales person & was told PALIO is going to get (re) launched on 6th March 2006 in Mumbai. Also he added that new palio will give a mileage of 12 in city and 14 in highways & pitched against Getz and Swift. He doesn't have any idea on pricing

It seems it's a 1200 cc car. He says Palio sports is 1900 cc with 100 bhp .

Just passing on what he told to me.

Here are pictures of the disguised Palio. Clicked it on my way to work this morning

Hey Dippy,

Did you manage to see the front end of the car? Does it look like the Palio above (in black)? Just hoping that it is not. I have to say, I dont like that front and prefer the present face of the car.

Does anyone know when will this facelifted version be launched?

Hope we get to see more pictures as its in Mumbai and on city roads. The chances of sightings, I believe increase.

Thanks

Fiat wouldn't waste money investing in another engine while the already 100bhp sweet 1.6 engine is at hand.

A revision of Spare part prices would make the Palio a definite phoenix!!

Fiat, world over, is too famous (infamous) for its "Typical FIAT" reputation. You buy a new Fiat, it works good for 2-3 years (if that!) then the car starts to fall apart (mainly "major" engine problems) and the owner faces very high cost of repairs. He tries to sell the car, but no one is planning to buy it and the owners get stuffed with their Fiat and its ever increasing repair bills. then finally they manage to sell it off, but really cheap, and then they pleadge not to buy a Fiat again.

I dont think the history of expensive Fiat spares will shed off that easily.

P.S.: This a general perception of Fiat and some of Fiat customers might not face any problems. But some might also face problems since Day 1!!!

Now if they could just market it properly. Are they going to retune the engine for more power?

I like those door handles. Looks like the redesigned Palio will be launched to coincide with the start of Palio sales by TATA dealers.

Sounds good but will the Indian car buyer bite the bait?

Had been to Ashwamegh motors today and they are amongst the few Fiat dealerships in Pune who will be servicing Fiat as well as Tata cars. GM of service for FIAT as well as TATA were working together to get a setup that will suit both TATA as well as Fiat cars. Saw pictures of the engine bay of the new face lifted Palio 1.2 that had come to ARAI for testing. The entire power plant remains the same except for a few changes to better FE of the car. Dont really know much in detail but all this starts this March end itself.

Wonder if its not the same old wine is a new bottle... Mark1 Mark2, Mark3 Mark 4.... largely the difference was in the shape and position of the indicators!!
