Great News Indeed. Fiat has span his network in Multiple countries now.
But they should work upon Sales & Service in India by coming out from TATA and have their own Sales & Service centres.
Definitely it will boost their sales in India for sure.

Srilanka already got many exotics in their country and they are relying mostly on imported cars. Hope as expected by Fiat they get success in Srilanka and would change some business proposition for themselves in India by making it hub.

Given how poorly Fiat has been performing in India, exports seems to be the only way to go for them to justify all their investments in India. Good luck to them.

Domestic sales have been disappointing, hence it makes sense for Fiat to bolster their exports. Hopefully, it might push them to improve fit-and-finish on their Indian cars.

Is it just CBUs or do they ship the national engine abroad as well? They probably make more money from licencing the national engine than their passenger car operation in India anyway!

For sales and service, are they flying solo or they have tied up with a car manufacturer in SL (like with Tata in India)?

Also, will the exports be completely built cars or there will be localization and assembly in SL?

phew!!! now atleast they can survive and not just pack up and go.
Good news for enthusiasts. We get good cars even though they might not be setting fire on sales charts locally.

Hmmm...but why is this news? Aren't a lot of companies using India as an export hub for RHD markets? I know that VW exports Polos to South Africa from their Chakan plant, for example.

On the other hand the Linea is a lovely car and this may be a very good thing for Fiat, since it's hardly selling in India despite a decent diesel option coupled with the absolutely mindblowing T-Jet petrol.

20,000 units per annum! Isn't that volume very low? Or is it only a specific segment? Fiat can achieve 5% market share by exporting 1000 cars. Fiat used to sell that much in India on a monthly basis when the Linea sales were healthy.

If anything, this means that the company will survive even if they don't sell that many in India. I would like to think of this as a positive news and that they'll continue selling their awesome cars in India even without selling the sales charts on fire.
