Raw Butch Look! Definitely a true blue SUV is MHO.

The Mahindras can definitely take queues on how to keep the front simple and aggressive from this!

Bring on more SUV's to the Indian market I say! More the competition merrier the customers! High time the customers ruled the roost!

I liked it, but like the other person who mentioned it - I think it looks a bit "muted". From the company that brought you the Tahoe, Suburban and the Silverado this SUV looks a little weak.

Definitely good looking. Liked the LED DRL treatment. Internationally is this one priced above or below Captiva?

Default Chevy Trailblazer to India?

From the ACI report, Chevy is planning to launch their body on frame SUV "TrailBlazer" in India. This is likely to compete with Fortuner.

Quote:
The Trailblazer is an attractive looking SUV and the company says it will be the most clean-sheet truck it has designed in its 100-year history. Chevy claims the Trailblazer will sport car-like features and will be a proper seven seater.

Saw the ACI report. It will be good if priced much lower than the captiva, somewhere near 13-15?? Wishful thinking!
The above pic is of the concept car, so the actual version may come somewhere next year.maybe one of the few american cars GM will launch in India considering the Chinese company SAIC will launch some of their models as rebadged Chevrolets.

Don't think this will be priced below Captiva. Captiva has a 150 PS engine. And trailblazer is expected to have a 160 / 170+ bhp engine. It has to be priced at Fortuner levels or close to it. Again the car is ladder-frame, so expensive than Captiva to be manufactured. They also claim this one to be spacious than Fortuner / Endeavor !

Good news, the Trailblazer was a decent mid size SUV and when i saw them in Riyadh, seemed like an American SUV that would look proper on Indian roads.
I thought that it was killed off by the Lambda platform derived crossovers but searched the net and looks like they are gonna sell an SUV version of the Chevy Colorado made in Thailand as the Colorado. Looks like propah SUVs are gonna rule the sub 20 lac Indian SUV market for some more years.
All thanks to the success of Toyota's IMV platform, but kinda selfish that India doesn't get to develop anything other than small cars.
Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Colorado, ahem.... the Pajero Sport if Mitsu is still alive, now where is Nissan in the picture???

It would be priced around 25-26 lac OTR for sure. If they price it at 20 lacs, Captive would not sell at all.

Then in that case Chevy needs to price the captiva much lower then whats its currently priced at to give the new suv any chance of competing in the 20 lakh category! Also by that time the new Endeavour will arrive so price is of utmost importance.

Sorry for the OT but why is ladder frame more expensive to manufacture?

The Trailblazer slots (or used to slot) one rung above the Equinox and below the Tahoe in Chevy's SUV line up. Now the Equinox is a Captiva category vehicle. So it is highly unlikely that the Trailblazer will come at Captiva prices.

Seems an interesting offering from GM. Saw pics and videos of the new car and looks better than fortuner, all depends on what price range and features offered.

I have seen the camaflouged version being tested by GM on Varthur-Sarjapur road, it definitely looks good(from whatever I could see).

This statement cannot be generalized.
The cost of a vehicle heavily depends on the expertise and experience the manufacturer has on the type of vehicle under consideration.
Being pertinent, GM has a very strong history of making Body-on-Frame Vehicles on successful platforms (the GMT platforms). So trailblazer shouldn't reel down under the nature of platform, cost-wise! On the other hand Honda specializes in Unibody Platforms and makes even its Small-trucks on Unibody Platform. (The Ridgeline)
But there is a small catch, when you sit down to make a pick-up or a SUV for that matter you are looking at strength and durability on the face of rough usage. So you need to give that relatively extra strength to the body. Using Uni-body for such vehicles increases cost as it would require more brackets, braces, and welds than a passenger-car unibody structure. And thus higher cost!!
I hope this answers!

Guess it's more heavy duty - hence sturdier components?

Captiva used to be a CBU. They could do a CKD with the facelift & knock off some lakhs if they wish - not sure they will do it. I doubt Chevy will sell well if they price it above Fortuner!

Was it recent?
