re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

I usually vote for cars that either brought tremendous value to their respective segments, or contributed to changing the game.

This year, for me, it was a call between the Hyundai Eon (a cheap car that doesn't feel cheap), Maruti Swift (the same successful formula, only improved), Hyundai Verna (the sedan that ended the City's domination) and the Mahindra XUV500.

I didn't need to think for more than 60 seconds on where my vote is going. It's the XUV500 for me. Reasons : A HUGE step ahead for Mahindra, an absolute all-rounder, great engine, superb ride & handling balance and a jaw-dropping equipment list. Best of all, a VFM price-tag that makes everything from the Aria to the Fortuner seem over-priced.

I have voted for XUV 500 For its instant appeal to mind and heart for very well pricing and positioning and modern goodies thrown in it, though I will wait for Automatic version before I go ahead.

Same here, voted for XUV 500 as it has the potential to be a game changer and it has succeeded in it to some extent. How well it does from here depends on how much Mahindra is proactive in fixing problems and supporting customers.

If done right it sure as enough and more potential to dethrone cars from segment lower and higher together.

I have voted for the XUV5OO.

Reason - it has redefined the VFM tag. It is a huge leap ahead for Mahindra. It gives everything what Indian customers want plus more at a very affordable price tag.

XUV all the way. Giant leap for Mahindra's. Excellent pricing. Suddenly the T-Forts and Yeti's look way overpriced. No offense meant to any of the proud owners of any of these vehicles.

If there was a choice for choosing another, it would have been the Swift.

XUV all the way. The car shocked, surprised, enthralled and will define how the SUV (and even other car segments) should be priced and featured for years to come. No other launch comes even closer.

I too Voted for Mahindra XUV 500 as I think its a huge step up for Mahindra & is ergonomically their best effort yet!

Plus, its great value for money & a good step-up vehicle for current Scorpio owners who wanted to upgrade but had no choice in that budget. I myself know 2 such people who sold their respective Scorpios , only to buy a new Scorpio.

Cheers!!

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

My vote was the Skoda Rapid. It is an absolutely fabulous sedan, from what I have seen, with an optimum balance of performance, efficiency, ride, handling, space and comfort.
The XUV was the next close contender, but lost out on my vote, because I absolutely detest the styling. The only part I like in terms of styling is the Rear. But, I know, this year's darling will be the XUV.

I voted for XUV500 too. Although there were other successful models this year (Eon, Swift & Verna), but this product really is a game changer. It has definitely increased my respect for Mahindra's compared to other local manufacturers. They not only delivered a world class product in looks but also in quality. And the best part, at a perfect price.

Kudos Mahindra!!!

Voted for the Hyundai Verna Fluidic,

Reason being it was a great step ahead from Hyundai how they rewamped their product which was about to die because of a very pathetic face-lift.
A long list of features and for the first time a car with so many engine options 1.4 petrol & diesel, 1.6 petrol & diesel and then 1.6 automatics again for both petrol and diesel.
The Verna with it looks pretty much appealed to a lot of customers and is also seen as a hot favourite for now.

Deciding 1 from the list is very tough. Lots of great cars that have turned their respective segments upside down.

for me it was a tough choice between the new verna and the XUV 500. Both score high on looks(XUV not so much) , have excellent features for the price, good engines and good comfort. But since the xuv is just launched(but not here in Goa!! not fair mahindra )and there are slight quirks here and there, cant really give it the top spot because of its unknown reliability. So the verna is my choice

XUV it is. It would be a game changer once it has been launched in all the cities across India. Initial impressions in TeamBHP are too good. And yes, M&M will definitely force other manufactures to revisit their pricing strategies. Kudos to the machine and it's manufacturer.

XUV 500 it is for me! it ticks all the right boxes for a 15 lac rupee car and a few more. Mahindra has come out with an all new product that is NOT based on anything.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

I voted for the XUV 500, but I really wanted to vote for the Volvo S60. Car for car, it obliterates the XUV on several counts, bar one; market popularity. Much as I want to, it's difficult to rationalize the S60 as the Car of the Year solely on the basis of what it is, a muscle car that puts several others to shame.

The XUV has never before seen features (for a Mahindra), looks nice and more importantly is available at a price that has rattled the cages of more than a few competitors. So many cars seem so stupidly overpriced right now on account of the XUV (yes Aria, I'm looking at you).

It's not surprising to see how well the XUV 500 has done, and even if there have been reports of niggles, I'm fairly confident Mahindra is on the right track and will redress issues promptly. The XUV has laid down a marker no one else can match right now, be it with respect to features, price or looks and for that one reason alone I would have to dub it the Car of the Year.

The Brio would have to be a worthy mention, but it doesn't seem outstanding on any one count, does it now? The XUV it is then.

Voted Hyundai EON. It's first great entry level car which I find really sexy.

Surprised to see so many votes to XUV500.
