Why did you have to take it secretly?

Any idea what will be the ground clearance for this vehicle? Is this a totally different vehicle from that currently on sale in Brazil - means the current Ecosport Brazil is not based on new Fiesta chassis?

Had been to Cauvery ford today to take delivery of a friend's figo. Their sales manager told me that the ecosport launch is expected to be around February 2012.

I was looking forward to this as a replacement for my fusion. Looks like its goona be a long wait!

Frankly, I am getting mixed feeling. It brings me into mind the Global Fiesta reveal. Just like this thread. That reveal and later the test drive thread ran into pages and pages. With everyone being interested in the car.

But alas, the worst thing happened for a car lover, the car was priced too beyond the reach of everyone's upper limit, all cheques kept waiting were torn up in despair and few in tears.

This reveal too has gathered so much interest but I am tredding a very careful path this time. I made only two posts. Nothing until I get the actual price.

I am sure there would be many similar to me.

Hi!
Any idea whether an auto gearbox will be launched?

Thanks for sharing the "exterior" pictures Mustang, we are now all too familiar with the Ecosport, exteriorwise. Can you manage to take some interior shots? I know its a bit of asking too much, but then what's the point if for the next "n" months, till the car is launched, we don't know how the interiors are put together, how well the internal space management is done. If not pictures then at least some clues how this new one fares in terms of interior compared to the existing one in Brazil

Guys, I saw the Ecosport today in person at the Auto Expo , and it looks much smaller than what it looks in pics. In reality, it looks like a beefed up Figo on steroids and a tyre on the back! Surprisingly it looked better in the pics that what it looks in person.
It may be a decent proposition the price of 7-9 lacs, but only if Ford offers it with great interiors, otherwise it may also head the New Fiesta way. In terms of design language, it is radical, but the concept is a little OTT. The production version would eventually lose the LED headlights and the monster shark front grill and may be better looking.

Hi,
Any insights on the I3 EcoBoost engine.
And on the Dual Clutch GB for the Fiesta.

Cant get any interior shots, car is placed on a raised revolving platform. Interiors will be similar in shape and materials to the new fiesta. And the interiors on display are also not the final interiors.

There will not be an auto gearbox at launch. But will be available a few months after the launch.

Car is much bigger than the figo and also bigger than the fusion.

This car is not at all similar to the brazilian ecosport. Its a new gen model based on the chassis of the new fiesta. Only thing is that they both are mini suvs. BraZilian ecosport is based on the chassis of the fiesta classic.

Thanks Mustang! And what about the dashboard? Will it also be similar to the New Fiesta in looks and with the mutli display screen?

Yeah. I overlooked the fact that they are talking about the Ecoboost Engine on the Ford India website. This should be a nice drive. Can't wait!

It will be similar to the new fiesta in the same manner as the figo interiors are similar to the fiesta classic interiors. The presence or absence of a multi display screen will be dictated by the price at which the company decides to launch the ecosport.

1 winner and 1 loss - Figo and Fiesta respectively for Ford.

Design wise it's got flair. However the front grill looks too big and the car looks a bit too high for the length. A view in the flesh may change the perception though.

I would say that Ford may have a winner provided they sell it with a diesel powerplant. However the EcoBoost engine specs are mouth watering and may prove to be a hit if the government deregulates diesel pricing.

Attaboy Ford! The best hit of the show for me.

Drive on,
Shibu.

Definitely going to be around 10L OTR for the base model.

Lets hope they price it well and learn from their idiotic pricing of Fiesta. If it happens to share many components with Fiesta, it should ideally stick to 9-10L OTR.

My only concern is, if they price in this bracket and going by Indians' love with SUVs, the Fiesta would really face in house fierce competition. It would be interesting to see how they price it to minimize its impact on Fiesta. Ideally Fiesta should have been 60-80K cheaper across variants.

Saw the Ford Ecosport in flesh yesterday. Looks really good to see it in real life. I frankly was not very impressed by the pictures, but in real life, all the misconceptions that I had about the proportions of the car vanished when I saw it. Looks really good. Would love to have it in my garage The tyres on the show car were 205/55 R17. Tyres looked decent, but if they down size it, might look under-tyred.
