I checked the Fiesta at the AutoShow last year and a 5ft 9" guy felt the same. It did not show any exclusiveness with that grey interior color either. The car didnt feel big at all to justify the 10 lakh price tag. The premium-ness is lacking. The car fell very short of the competition.

You see that BIG red button on the top? You hit that, and you get ejected out of the seat - batman style - in case of an emergency.

Sorry, needed my fix of teasing someone today.

I reckon its part of the testing equipment engineers use when the cars are road tested.

Thanks! It actually looks like a brake-fluid canister from Superbikes.

Just ranting here...I am liking all that I am seeing in the ES, except for one major parameter, the length of the car. My current ride,Skoda Fabia is already at 4 Meters. So, ES is NOT going to offer me any extra space than the fabia . Correct me if I am wrong.

It's not a upgrade for me atleast on the interior (and the boot) space and that kind of puts me off to consider as an additional car/SUV for the family. Maybe, I can consider it as a replacement for Fabia, but will the extra cost makes the business case here?

Firstly, answer the following questions:

1. Do you have kids (or expecting any) that cannot be fit in the fabia?
2. Do you have a dog - in addition to kids and a wife?
3. Are your parents coming to stay with you long term (or your wife's parents).
4. Do you plan to move houses in your car? And save on shipping costs?

If your answers are no to all these questions, you are "eligible" for the Ecosport.

If your answers are yes to any of the above, well, we can only feel sorry for you.

Maybe we should make these questions a sticky at the first page.

The Ground Clearance of the Ecosport looks quite impressive!

Slightly OT:

1. Yes - Twin boys
2. Nope (can't even think of it)
3. Live with my Mother.
4. Travelling long distance with the family is equivalent to moving a small house

I know it's a no brainer with these requirements that I NEED a BIG SUV. But, the budgets put a hurdle on those options and hence looking for an affordable SUV with security features. Even the suppose to be cheap Duster making me bite the dust for now and the second hand market doesn't give me any confidence to go for one.

Way off topic now, but you should honestly get a bigger car with those requirements. Maybe a lower end Safari or Scorpio might suit the bill for you.

May be, but I guess r0ckstar is the sort of generic customer waiting for a compact SUV like EcoSport. And this kind of small discussion helps in getting the expectations right.

With the kind of requirements you mentioned, EcoSport may not fulfill your needs. With under 4m, either the legroom or the boot will be compromised to some extend.

EcoSport is ideal for a nuclear family who loves to drive on the weekends and explore new places (where there could be bad roads or no roads).

My 2 cents.

As for r0ckstar, have you considered Ertiga?

I feel ford will/may not introduce 1.5 Petrol unit for Eco in India. It may be true that they are testing 1.5 petrol unit for the Ecosport, which I think might be for export market's.

As it will not make sense for Ford to have less powerful, not fuel efficient and expensive 1.5 L unit (not having excise benefit) in India when 1.0 L unit (will avail excise benefit) and which is as powerful as a 1.6 L petrol unit.

Off topic, but what about top end Quanto dear.
(I might be sounding like Mahindra SA but the sheer VFM quotient has made me literally gaga for Quanto, [although I had bashed the same for utter disproportion before launch.] But the ultimate product some how exceeded my expectations and the price was icing on cake )

I agree. 1.5 ltr petrol makes no sense since it was not even well received in the Fiesta here.

I am thinking on the following lines, (following Fiesta's nomenclature):

1.5 ltr Diesel (MT) - 3 Variants (Ambient, Style, Titanium)
1.0 Ecoboost (MT) - 2 variants (Style, Titanium)
1.0 Ecoboost AT - 1 Variant (Titanium, though I hope for a Style too)

the diesel Ambient would be priced lower than the Ecoboost Style since the diesel would be the bread-n-butter variant in India.

The EcoBoost MT Style might be a little lower than the top end diesel Titanium and the Ecoboost AT Titanium higher around 10-11L ex-showroom.

I feel any 1.5L Petrol variant would not have any takers. The main target being the mileage conscious middle class, they would definitely go for the diesel variants. The enthusiasts/petrol heads/geeks may go for the Ecoboost.
