In normal mode the torque is 170nm and in ecoboost mode the torque is 200 nm. It will be the case for Indian ecosport as well.

The 3 cylinder 1 liter ecoboost engine is much lighter, infact is just the dimensions of an A4 paper. Eventhough I have appreciations about the technology, I suspect what Ford is trying to achieve here.

Please read this report:
" EcoBoost produces great mileage when unloaded, but gets thirsty when working hard. "

This is the test report: http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2011/04...-6-part-1.html

As per report, under loaded conditions, the vehicle is giving surprisingly low mileage than a normal aspirated engine. So Im wondering if this could come to single digit figure considering the ARAI value is 16 kmpl . Im rethinking the diesel way!

The ecoboost engine added cost come to 50,000 to 1 lack rupees increase. Also the turbocharger has to work all the time during loaded conditions leading to high fuel intake. Is it better to stick to to the normal 1.5/1.4 L Diesel or Petrol mill ?

To Admin: When Ecosport official review is carried out, please ensure we do a fuel efficiency test in both fully loaded (5 + luggage) and single driver conditions for the ecoboost model.

You had written about 100 PS , so i wanted to clear that out.

About the torque, it is an interesting thing. the engine normally would produce a max of 170Nm but in the mid range, if the vehicle is being worked hard,(more accelerator input or More weight to lug around), the engine can provide a transient increase in Torque output for about 30 seconds, to make it 200 Nm.
This technology to give a transient boost in the EcoBoost engines is called OverBoost.
This is analogous to the Intel's turbo boost in today's Microprocessors!

The Overboost has been seen in the Ford Focus as well.

Hope this clears all your doubts

The People of USA are getting this cool MyFord Touch infotainment system in the new fiesta, wonder if we could get it here in the EcoSport, would be much better than the chinese alternatives.

Now wait for the EcoSport is being stretched too much. In mid 2012, we were told to expect the display in showrooms in November with the deliveries towards end of 2012 or start 2013. But most of us are yet to see an EcoSport. The Ford showroom in my city told me this info, now they claim they know nothing!

Cheers!

That is one beautiful infotainment system
However, early adopters like me probably wont get it..heck, we aren't even getting the car shown a year ago..this one maybe slated for 2014, i.e if the car does get launched in 2013

I feel ford has done lot of cost cutting on the Ecosport. And If so, should help them in getting the price spot on

Following pics highlight the same,

My assumptions are based on pre-production cars in india.

Sometimes its best if you follow reviews from reliable sites. The guy in the blog basically needs to understand perfectly how turbo works and also understand how the EcoBoost tech is implemented.

Dropping FE with higher loads is basic physics, the difference is usually higher between laden & unladen vehicles with the increased displacement of the engines too. PickUpTrucks have clearly explained that!

One should go through the Ford Focus & Fiesta Autocar UK reviews. As these cars are fitted with Ecoboost engines, the reviews provide good insight on what goods they deliver ...

Now it needs to seen how much premium Ford plans to charge for the Ecoboost technology.

Mody ford, Hyderabad is expecting the car to be on display within the next 2 weeks. And test drives towards the end of the month. No clue on the price though.

Just wondering what causes that weird movement of wheels in Ecosport between 0.55 & 1.05? Is it an optical illusion of sorts or the alloy design?

PS: Any pointers why the video is not getting embedded properly despite following this guide? (Embedding Videos into your posts)

Nothing to do with the Ecosport wheels. This is a typical optical illusion as the camera records at 24fps. If the wheels rotate at 24 rpm they appear stationary. Any slower than that they seem to rotate in one direction and any faster they appear to rotate in the opposite direction.

The URL that you are putting is a modified URL that you would have landed on via an embed on another site.
Try searching for this video by name and the URL on the page of the video would be the actual URL for the video. Then you will have no problems..
