So this means the peak power may not be 120 BHP. May be around 100 BHP.

+1 to your views. I was about to react to Ampere's statement, but you beat me to it.

I too own a WagonR and a Fiesta sxi (now Classic), and found the maintenance to be on par.

No... could be slightly better, say ~ 110 bhp or probably the 0-100 numbers be little worse as compared to international Ecosport.

But, the prospect of sub-Duster pricing, because of length under 4 meters, 4X4 option (from the beginning, if I am not mistaken or optimistic), 1.5L Diesel & Ford brand (courtesy Figo & Endeavour) should be its selling point more than the turbocharged small petrol engine.

However, I still wish Ford had brought their international 1.6L Diesel in India, & hope they bring the latest Fusion/ Mondeo soon ().

Getting a bit worried. Please don't detune the engine, Ford.
The Ecoboost's engine equivalent to 1.6L engine was mentioned for European markets I guess

Let me take a wild guess here, the possible explanation you will be getting is
1. The quality of the fuel is not as good as foreign market.
2. Additionally, chances are they have tuned it for more fuel efficiency for Ecosport, launch in India. Given the size of the vehicle.
Thats might have brought down the power too.

Purely guesssing.

Yesterday got to know that the 6 Ecosoprts spotted in Pune (reported on IAB) have gone in convoy to ARAI. Source is the sales people at Ford dealer. Will check out on sunday to see if I can spot them there.

Anyway now it looks like launch is a couple of months away.

Launch according to other websites like IAB, Car-trade-india etc is early 2103 which mean Q1 2013. This should hit roads latest by March 2013

Autocar-UK have test driven the Ecosport & here is the link to their first drive report:
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/...-ford-ecosport

It seems to be promising product, despite the small footprint .

The comments from the uk audience do not look too generous

Looks like a just bit of compromise on the rear seating.
I have been following the ecosport since the auto expo and I have to add the rear seating has to be the weakest link. Despite trying hard I was never able to get a clear picture of the rear seating. Seemed like Ford ensured those pictures are not leaked where as every thing else about the car was being highlighted. Only recently ACI released some pictures but that does not show leg room when front seat is full back for a tall driver. I guess for that we have to wait for the likes of GTO to get their hands on the ecosport!

With the total length under 4 metres, something has to give. In this case, it could be the leg room for the back seats.

I guess it is the boot space. The review said the boot space is a little more than a hatch.

Boot is 346 liters with the rear seats up... almost 70% of Duster. I bet rear seating won't be as bad for smaller Indians as compared to taller Europeans.

Since the sub-4 metre length is more for excise benefit than design considerations, the rear would not be as spacious as duster.

Sunny side up; the excise benifits vis-a-vis duster is 12%. So ecosport should be priced quite aggressively.
