Default Nissan hikes prices - 19 Jan 2012

Mods, starting a new thread for NIssan price hikes. You may merge this thread with the Maruti & GM price hike thread to keep one single thread for price hikes & also rename the thread title.

Info via tweets from ODMAG & ACI:

ODMAG:
Quote:
Nissan micra petrol up by 3000, diesel 5000, sunny petrol 5000, diesel unaffected

ACI
:
Quote:
Breaking: Nissan hikes Micra prices by Rs 5,000 for petrol and Rs 12 ,000 for diesel version, Sunny petrol to cost Rs 5,000 more.
Correction from ACI
Quote:
Nissan hikes Micra prices by Rs 3,000 for petrol and Rs 12 ,000 for diesel version, Sunny petrol to cost Rs 5,000 more.
I am wondering they didn't bother to hike Sunny Ds price even after the car is selling well & has a good waiting period as of now! Probably they included the imminent hikes when launching the car. Remember, the car carries a 1.25L premium over the petrol variants!

Edit:: There is a conflict right now in the tweets on pricing. Will update once confirmed!

Bang on! Love it or leave it, profiteering is here to stay in a capitalistic scenario! And there's nothing wrong with it really in one sense. Make Hay while the Sun Shines - as with all industries, not only Autos!

VAT is 14.5% for the state of TN compared to 12% in other places. So, the additional 3k increase on the ex-showroom price.

There have been talks of additional 5% increase in road tax for diesel cars, which will mean LTT will be 15% for cars costing less than 10 lakhs in TN. Whether it is 5% or less is not certain at the moment but If I were you I'd be prepared for this increment too.

Is this hike only for MSPL or has other competitors have increased the price too?

Rupee rally's for 6th straight day. Touching 50, 10% gain from low of 55ish a month or so ago (vs the Dollar).

Still justifiable increase ? time will tell.

there wont be price decrease but there will be discounts , price decrease would mean that they are desperate to sell their product so usually "discounts" are given

I wholeheartedly agree with this! I'm sure in the next 4 months or so that we have to wait to get delivery of our Swift's, the price will be hiked by a minimum of 10k either in the budget(IF green tax is imposed, may be MUCH higher) or by Maruti.

My dealer called me and told me that the 17k hike in the ex-showroom price would mean 22k hike on-road, so the Swift will cost 8.15l OTR here in bangalore.I'm guessing if i hold onto my booking by May 2012 i should be willing to shell out a minimum of 8.25k for the ZDI,and this is IF no additional excise duty is levied on diesel cars.

This will be Music to the ears of Hyundai, VW and Toyota.
Now people should definitely consider vehicles like i20, Polo and Liva, which I personally feel are as good as SWIFT if not any better given that the prices are almost certain to be normalized.

Here it is, officially, what the Petroleum Ministry has recommended to the Finance Ministry. A higher excise duty of around Rs. 80,000 on Diesel cars to be included in the budget of 2012 - 2013

Diesel Engines May Cost Rs. 80,000 More After Budget 2012 In India

Morons of first order. Don't these guys think before giving suggestions. Should it not be on %basis rather than absolute number. Lookslike they want to deter only the lower segment buyers from diesel cars.

I am thinking this move will make all the on the fence people to move to petrol , thereby increasing petrol consumption and in effect increase price?

Honestly i think they will never do that in india. these might be rumors. every farmer owns a tractor which runs on diesel and many transportation busses lorry run on diesel. Increase in excise duty for diesel will hit aam aadmi much. Given that congress has had a poor outing in controlling inflation and with election around the corner i bet they wont burn their hand in doing this. Wait and watch

Geeash, the increased tax is only for diesel passenger cars. This is a move to recover the loss incurred from subsidizing diesel without affecting the lorry and tractor owners.

Hey but isn't this stating the obvious. Pay at all companies across industries always increase each year during April. This is just some stupid *filler* reporting from Business Line.

On the contrary, if we analyze the matter better, we would note the following facts:
1. The recent news that Maruti will Procure 3 lac diesel engines per annum from Fiat
2. The speculation that Tata Motors would surely have grabbed its pound of flesh if its JV with Fiat is used to cater to Maruti's needs
3. Maruti is running short of 1000 Diesel engines per day currently. @25 working days per month, that translates to 25 x1000 x 12 = 3lac engines per yr. so the figure tallies
4. Finally, buying the engine from Fiat would surely cost maruti more that manufacturing it in-house under license from Fiat.

Hence, maybe input cost has increased a bit after all! And maybe that's just why the Swift, Ritz etc in Diesel variants have seen the maximum price hike.

Mark my words, speculation of such a steep price hike on account of planned increase in wages is sheer Hogwash!
