MPower, you are right, Fiesta-Diesel should not be affected much....

Has any one checked the FE of 1.4 or 1.6 Aveo in city with a/c?? this should be interesting.

If Aveo is able to sell a lot i think GM should be able to reduce the spares cost OR as a marketing strategy they might well price the spares little cheaper upfront.

Dude, how many Aveos do you think are out there? It was launched only couple of weeks back...It'll be a while before users will post their opinions. Test drive Vs owning a car for a while can give totally diff. opinions.

Btw, are you planning to buy an Aveo? If yes, since you like it, you should go for it. There is absolutely nothing bad that I can see up front.

And if there is anything bad about it, you can always let us know

Hi Sonic,

I dont plan to buy aveo

The features/pricing definitely makes aveo very attractive, if it gives good FE and performance it would be a car to watch out for.

we shall see the timings soon . though it is unlikely to beat vtec , not every1 will pay rs 1L extra(for the VTEC) to do a 0-100 dash 0.5-1sec quicker than the competition.

I agree. A very valid point....not everyone goes to the race track!

correct, what one looks at is fun-to-drive factor, like that in the ikon 1.6 or the fiesta 1.6

though i hardly believe that aveo falls in that category - i wouldnt call an engine that has to be literally begged for power any "fun"

Saw an ad for the Aveo on the way to school. My friends who were in the car with me metioned that it looked like an Optra.
Recently on the way back from school, i saw 2 Aveos pass us and IMHO the car wouldn't even get a first look. I almost missed it until i saw the red temp. number plates and DEMO CAR stickering.
IMHO,
the Aveo will give tough competition to the Fiesta 1.4 as Fiesta 1.6 buyers will be loking for a FTD factor which seems missing in the Aveo.
Also the Fiesta has a Diesel powerplant which is a big adantage in Mumbai and IMHO, i think our fiesta is bigger and more comfortable and def. more FTD even though it is a diesel.
There are many who would go for the Fiesta over the Aveo.
Remember the Tata Indica TDs ad? Turbo diesel, petrols new role model. That is what seems to be happening with the Fiesta.
Cheers

Default Aveo - Build quality?

Hi Guys,

When I checked out Aveo in the showroom, somehow I had a feeling that the build quality is poor compared to Fiesta. Especially the doors & Boot feel tinny and indicate flimsy build. ( You realise this when you close them).

The gearshift could easily belong to any jeep. It does not belong in a mid size car like this.

Another aspect ( someone else mentioned it in the forums) is beige interiors can get dirty very easily in Indian driving /usage conditions. So one really wonders if its a big plus on Aveo.

Would like to hear others' views on these.

Thanks
Kishore

The AVEO is the car of the month for TG. According to them it gives a FE of 13-14.5(hope they are not like OD)

They also say the brakes are very good for non-ABS version as well, its easy to modulate braking and prevent lock-up even without ABS.

The 1.6 takes 11.3secs to a 100kmph wheras the 1.4 takes 13.5. Top speed of 1.4 is 170 and of the 1.6 is 180.

What good is a car without a smooth gearshift? I personally dont like lifting it up for reverse gear.

Is that a old technology?

Another thing is maintenane. Autocar reads out the optra front door costs 21k and front bumper costs 11k. Am too afraid to buy one and have decided against it. Dont know the details for Aveo.
