Default Aveo....End of road for others?

Hi Guys,

After seeing the features and reviews I wonder if the entry of Aveo is end of road for following cars. Reviews/comments from the experts solicited.

All comments below are v/s Aveo
--------------------------------
Accent: Pick up. Prices must drop may be by another 50k to stay in market.
Baleno: Automatic climate control, Independent suspension, tall gearing. Can compete only if price is difference is more than 1 lakh.
Fiesta: No positives at all. Only those who like the looks of Fiesta will choose Fiesta.
Honda City: Better FE. City will sell only if GXI prices is made same as aveo-1.4 LS.
Optra: Aveo is big enough and might eat up a lot of potential optra buyers.

Not at all. The Aveo, for a variety of reasons (GM, Power, Looks, perceived high maintenance etc.), may not be on everyones buying list.

Hey Venkat - its good to have initial enthusiasm for the Aveo ..

Buttt - one could say that the Aveo is not a spacious as the NHC, or fun-to-drive as the Baleno or the Fiesta, has poor A/S/S and high maintenance compared to Hyundai or MUL, is not as good looking as the Optra, or not as efficient as NHC or Baleno, and is a korean at heart, doesnt have a badge of a Honda or a Toyota - then is it the end of the road for Aveo ??

Nopes - the indian midsize market is big enough for all the players, each playing on their own strengths and weaknesses.

Guys those who have driven/experienced,
Amongs NHC, Aveo, Baleno which has the best
1. Rear seat space & comfort.
2. Better suspension.
3. Doesn't Aveo have rear-seat arm-rest??

I think Aveo will hit Fiesta the hardest. The others are positioned differently, so they won't be so badly affected. I especially don't think Honda (badge value, FE) or Maruti (***, performance) will be affected by Aveo.

I think both will hit the Accent the most - Hyundai better come out with a replacement very soon for this ageing best-seller.

The Battle in this segment will be just between the newbies ie the Aveo and the Fiesta. Though the Aveo is not a bad looking car somehow it looks like a squeezed Optra to me. No comments on the Fiesta as I really dont find the car good looking at all.

GM wont be able to touch Honda, Maruti or even Hyundai for that matter. The 'H' badge works for everyone and people swear by the A.S.S. of Maruti and Hyundai.

So its just between the Fiesta and the Aveo

Fiesta doesnt look all that great. But doesnt generate such a sick feeling as the Honda city. For the price of Honda city it is a ugly duckling.

If one can digest the looks of IKON, fiesta isnt that bad at all. 1.6 has power. I dont know about Baleno though.

New Accent is like a big egg. It will suffer anyway.

One big flaw. AVEO dosent have a diesel engine, which Fiesta has.

AVEO 1.6 with VGIS still cannot beat the NHC VTEC in 0-100 or smoothness.

Regarding FE, spares cost, maintenance........it remains to be seen. Everything is speculation as of now.

Aveo is well spec-ed, well positioned and well priced to hurt competition at the 'marbles'. Let's wait and see how performance reports come out...
