I voted for "fast, luxurious, not too big but comfortable sedan" - the catchphrase here being "not too big".

Without being overly judgmental or patronizing, I've gotta say, for me, the Jetta fits that bill perfectly. It's fast, it's luxurious, it's not too big and it's super comfortable especially the 2011 model. Not to forget, the small matter of having superbly balanced ride and handling! Which as a combination, makes her the ideal sedan for varied driving conditions ranging from start-stop traffic to highway cruising and anything in between.

And I don't do much off-roading!

Revisiting the old thread.
Few more votes as Amaze, EcoSport and Duster have been launched.

For me it has to be Honda City, or something in the Verna/Vento/Rapid league.
The most optimal blend of luxury, space, status and price.

Entry-sedans like Amaze, Dzire offer too less, and SUVs are not practical for crowded markets and narrow parking lots. A City can easily squeeze into both, and carry your whole family with luggage for long drives without exhaustion.

After having owned a City for 8 years and 100k, I simply love it, and I will replace it with another City (or equivalent C2 segment car).
Let my other car be the different one - hatch/SUV/big-fat-luxury-brand. But there has to be 1 C2 segment car in my stable.

My vote goes to Ertiga in SUV section
For comfort, reliability, space, easy to drive in city as well as highway, FE and ofcourse the Maruti batch.
Honda city in sedan
Comfortable and tension free car.

I think the poll deserves another candidate : Compact SUVs

They seem to be the trend now and also suits the condition of our roads(of lack of it)

I have chosen MUV purely because it will suit my needs( Family mover) and can take me to office as well as go long drive on weekends and bad roads.

I would have had another thought if there was a mention of Compact SUV

For people like me it will always be the Yeti and its ilk.

It has absolutely all that one can ask for.

Sufficient space, extreme cleverness, fantastic versatility, pretty much go anywhere capability, superb safety kit, great dynamics, handling, fuel efficiency and smartness as well as overall desirability.

At its price point, nothing else comes close.

Voted for a diesel 4X4 SUV. It covers up the Yeti as well as the Pajero.
