Lightbulb Online Driving Test (in English & Marathi). Try it, and educate yourself on the rules

Do you think you are a good driver ?
Are you fit to drive on Indian roads ?
Do you know all the rules ?

Here's a test to find out the answers to these questions:
LLR Test: Facebook Page,
Direct Link to the test in English (Open in Internet Exporer)

Trust me when I say that you'll be really surprised by the results.

The test is based on The Central Motor Vehicles Rules, hence applicable for the whole of India. The test is available in English and Marathi.

Overview of the Test:
  • It is basically the test you should be giving before applying for a learners license. But I would advice everyone to try it.
  • Every time you take the test, you are asked 10 multiple choice questions. These questions are randomly selected from a vast pool of questions, thus the repeatability factor of the test is high.
  • The questions cover a wide range of topics, from road signs to road etiquette.
  • The time limit is 4 minutes (This is more than enough time from personal experience)
  • At the end of the test, you are given a printable report card and you can review all the questions to know the correct answers.

I recommend devoting 4 minutes daily for this test and thus increase your knowledge about the rules. This will definitely go a long way in making you a SAFE driver.

Spread the Awareness about this test. We all know the power of Facebook and let Team-BHPians lead the way this time around. Just head to the Facebook page and LIKE it

The test is prepared by Sameer Shaikh, Inspector of Motor Vehicles, Wardha, Maharashtra. In his own words: "Accidents Hurt, Safety Doesn't. Follow Traffic Rules." This is a great initiative by him and I would like to personally thank him for this.

A run through the test (in pictures):

The LLRTest Facebook Page. Notice only 3 likes as of now !! Go ahead and like it....

It takes some time for the page to load depending on your internet connection speed. So, hold on, it will show up. I would recommend Mr. Shaikh to put up a 'Loading' sign here.
Once loaded, it asks for your name and email ID. Don't worry, I haven't received any spam :

Just select the answers to the questions and click on the 'Answer' button at the bottom of the page:

I didn't pass on my first attempt . But, I was asked some really tough ones. An eye-opener this one is:

You get a summary on clicking the 'More Details' button:

The question was -

Driving up non signal intersection, people crossing ahead of you, then..

My answer -

Stop and allow people to cross the road.

which I do quite often.

Result:

INCORRECT!

I guess in the Indian context, the correct answer would be -

Horn loudly and cross quickly

Few questions I failed to understand.

A sign of cattle in triangle means

Cattle Prohibited
Give away
One way
Cattle

Correct answer is 4th. Welcome to India.

While Driving Motorcycle, arm signals be given by

Left Hand only
Right Hand Only
Not neccessary
As per Drivers convenience

I thought 4th was correct answer but its 2nd.

I scored 70% and passed the test.

Gave the test twice. Scored a 10 and a 7. Got all the rail road signs wrong. But I do remember getting asked some of those when I went for the learners license test 16 yrs ago in Delhi. I got them right but that was only because of what I had observed on road. There wasn't any text for it.

That was wrong! What was the correct answer? Seems like our rules also need some tweaking.

Are you serious? How can this be deemed safe to be a rule?

What an excellent initiative..!! I just showed it to my wife and son, and got both of them hooked on to it. Is there anything available in interactive CD form? Basically, I would love to have it offline, so that I can quiz my colleagues at work.

I don't understand this online test. I feel that their answers are wrong. I don't want to google but I'm sure that all my answers were correct. I remember two such questions- signalling by a biker and allowance of learner's licence holders.

Edit: Saw the post above. The site indeed had wrong answers. Good to see that they are fixed now

Took the test and scored 80%. 2 answers were wrong; The MV Act section and the eyesight of the applicant.

But I feel is would be difficult to read a number plate from 25m. No?

Yaay!! Got a 100% on my 2nd attempt. Must agree that this is an excellent test, and truly a real eye opener. A wonderful initiative.

Yes. I completely agree. In fact I have tried it myself and found it to be rather difficult to figure out sometimes. I guess this rule just needs to be tweaked to be more practical. I remember having really wondered about this one when I had applied for my driver's license, and had read this somewhere.

I thought 4th was correct answer but its 2nd.
Signaling on two wheelers should be made with the right hand. The idea is to let go of the throttle so the speed starts reducing. However, if one is turning left, one should obviously use the left hand.

Hand signal should invariably be given by Right Hand only.
(how would one give a hand signal if driving a car and desires to turn left?)
