Hello Friends,

Some good news for Petrol consumers expected soon. Hope people remember that Petrol prices were hiked twice this year - Rs. 1.5 + Tax in February & Rs. 1.4 + tax in March.

But fortunately since the last hike the International Crude prices has came down to USD 120 per barrel from USD 131 per barrel. Also Rupee has appreciated to Rs. 54.25 against 1 USD.

At the same time, Diesel prices may be hiked by 0.50 paise.

Crude price at 5320 per 100 barrel, the highest in last 8 months on the mcx and around 96 - 97$ on comex. The sheikh in uae feels 100$ is a reasonable rate for both buyer and seller. Not sure if he means crude or Brent crude.

If he means the former, we can expect a rate of 5600 on the mcx soon!

While this will mean a slow down on petrol and diesel car sales drastically, it may open doors for alternative fuel cars.

What will be interesting to see is well they get cheaper or affordable (Read hybrid).

Crude prices have dropped to $102 (brent) from $120 in past few months (almost 20%). Surely Petrol prices should be reduced more than the 50 p reported

My Friend!
Petrol prices go up very fast just like the profits of the companies we work for.
But that doesnt mean we get a pay rise quickly right ?

Its all about frequency of evaluation
Petrol prices are supposed to be evaluated fortnightly as per the market prices
So this is exactly how it should work
We get our salary rise as per the companies profits too just that it is evaluated once in a year.

Petrol appears to be set for a drop of Rs 1 most news channels reporting, in sync with the drop in global crude oil prices. Brent Crude has dropped a fair bit in the last week

If at all petrol prices should drop ? it should have happened yesterday mid night isnt it ?

Unfortunately, Oil companies increase on time, but when it comes to reduction they always have the luxury to take their own sweet time. Every day means few hundred crores of profit !!

If petrol goes down while diesel goes up, some political party is going to exploit it. The message will be govt only cares up rich people and hence reduced petrol prices while hiking diesel prices. Nobody will care for the reasons.

I feel it will be the opposite. Majority of two wheeler riders can be convinced that the job of reducing petrol prices and increasing diesel costs was done towards the benefit of the masses. I am aware that diesel costs may rise inflation and prices of commodities. But that is more of a longterm effect which can be countered in other ways. But rise in petrol prices will give immediate reactions always. People who depend upon two wheelers and small petrol cars will always fume for the slightest increase, though it may not make that much of a difference. Hence, the politicos can brag about reduced petrol prices in each and every place they go for campaigning, as that will definitely catch the hearts of the people who attend such meetings.
