by the looks of the car,imo it looks damn ugly especially the front end treatment.i guess the front end looks better on a suv-ish design and incorporating it in a sedan has spoiled the design.
hey elf,if thats the engine they are planning to plonk in the new baleno,sign me up too..

well, the headon front look does seem quiet ugly, but seeing it from the side, its real nice

like a sports sedan! from what i remember reading before, both esteem and baleno are to be scrapped once the new Suzuki sedan is here. like the fate of the good ol Zen!

I'd love to see Maruti scrap anything - if they could, they'd revive the first 800 they brought in! Although it might be nice with the 2.0 litre 143bhp twin-cam dohc screamer...

according to an auto mag,SX4 comes with a 1.5 & 1.6 engine and 1.9 diesel engine frm Fiat! but for India they may use teh old Baleno engine

. But if it has to compete with Optra etc on engine wegine side, then they may brign teh new 1.6 engine wih 100+ bhp.

The new Baleno (if it is indeed based on the SX4) will be the last car in its segment to go for a cab forward look. Rather like the nice proportions of the current one, but only because its the last one remaining.

Seeing the SX4 Sedan's pic in the latest autocar mag was a nice surprise, and it looked real nice in that mag's pic! great for Suzuki to finally come up with another nice car in that segment!

hey, I also read that the current Baleno and Esteeme are to be replaced with the SX4 based sedan and a sedan based on the Swift Platform.... this leads me to the question of the resaleability of the Baleno. I have just now taken a test ride and had almost finalised on a Baleno Vxi... now this decision is on hold.

That IS TRUE!!

Maruti has replaced Baleno with SX4. Esteem is still going strong and I dont think Maruti has any plans for its repleacement.
