If it is priced at 11.5l ex-showroom, then does that mean that it would still e about 14.5 which is three lakhs more, on-road?

WOW!!

Thats a lot of car for 11.49 L.
However I must say I wasn't expecting Maruti to slash down the price to 11.49. Its a great move and hopefully now Kizashi will get the numbers it deserved .

Thats really a good deal. Better than Civic too..

OT - if Maruti can get Kizashi at this pricing, why the hell they not getting GV at this price. That will surely see more numbers.

I still don't think Suzuki will be able to sell the Kizashi in numbers even at this price! Suzuki is still lacking the brand value that a Toyota or a Honda carries in our market. No matter how hard they try, or how good their cars might be, the Suzuki brand will always stay the "economical" brand in India.

I think Maruti is testing the market with this offer. If they manufacture Kizashi here, they may be able to price it around 11L. So, they are checking whether there are any takers at this price range. If they see some brisk movement at this price range, they may plan to manufacture Kizashi here, IMO. Anyway, they are out of American market, so probably trying to focus more on markets like India - who knows?

BTW, do Suzuki has a manufacturing plant in America? I think it is exporting cars to US market from Japan, and that was the reason they were not able to price their cars any cheaper, and not able to launch Swift in US market at a low price. Any idea?

OMG 11.99 Lakhs! Thats a great price. I think it would be wrong to say it wont sell because of the brand value. It wont sell because of the absence of diesel.

Ertiga has proved that a maruti can comand close to 10 lakhs OTR. Kizashi at around 14 odd is the next logical step, if there are variants starting from 11 lakhs onwards, and has a diesel.

The Kizashi is an Accord/Camry competitor, not a Civic/Corolla one. Actually Suzuki bench marked the 3 series while designing the Kizashi, dont take my word for it but just search and read the many international reviews available online.

Suzuki must be just pushing out surplus Indian stock else they wont make any money importing them from Japan and keep selling them at these prices in India!! After the US exit it wont be suprising if Suzuki pulls the plug on Kizashi.

Even better will be 2-3 years down the line when there will be low mileage examples available for 6-7 lacs, pretty sure some tinkering will help it reach the 200ps mark + all that torque, should make it a fun weekend toy!! Also not to forget that huge service network. Feel sorry for the new owners though.

All this brand value thing is mostly crap. Give a nice product at a good/competitive price and it will sell.

While the price is now good (awesome actually, especially because it is the no-nonsense CBU build), our fondness for diesel will ensure this is not really going to fly off the shelves.
Which is no surprise given that other petrols like Civic, Corolla etc are also getting the cold shoulder from the buyer.

I looked up the crappy MS-Kizashi page, but could not see anything about this special pricing. And the "all jazz and no use" design of the website ensured I could not get prices for any city (even the old prices). So, is this only some special offer in Delhi ?

Does anyone have pricing + taxes for Chennai ?

The pricing is clearly much sweeter and makes it much more tempting , i would live with a petrol engine and the mileage as well if the car is really fun , what i am most concerned about is given that its essentially an import what the availability of parts and pricing of those are going to be , are we going to land up in a situation where we wait 2-3 weeks for parts to come in.

I called up a Chennai dealer today. He offered me a 5 lakh discount on the road price for a 2011 Manual Kizashi, which works out to some 16.xx Lacs. They are certainly not aware of 11.49 Lacs deal and there are no deals in Automatic model.

You do know that US is left hand drive so they really can't dump the surplus from there.
