Default 2013 Hyundai i10 spied. EDIT : Spotted in India on Page 2!

Mod Note : The Hyundai Grand i10's Official Review can be found at this link (Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review).

Please continue the discussion over on the new thread.

The 2013 Hyundai i10, which is expected to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Expo has been spied testing in Europe (RHD variant). Here is the report:

Hyundai i10 spied | Auto Express

Seemingly, it will be launched in India few months after the Euro launch. Hope we get it sooner being the better/ bigger small car market .

From the above link :-

There's a new front-end with revised headlamps,

which will feature LED daytime running lights, (May not available in india)

while different cut lines at the bottom of the front windscreen indicate a new bonnet design.

The sides of the car will have more distinctive styling - similar to that seen on the new Hyundai i30 - and will lead to a sharper rear end with more stylish tail-lights and a larger tailgate. (Impressive)

The engine line-up is expected to remain largely unchanged, with further efficiency improvements to the frugal 1.0-litre three-cyliner (Is this specs for Deisel ??)

and 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engines.

I believe the diesel is 1.1L 3 cylinder, & not the 1L 3 cylinder (which is derivative of the 1.25L 4 cylinder engine). Yes, I too was little disappointed with no changes in the engines, but, these already offer decent levels of refinement as compared to international competitors, & is one of the best small engines in India.

Hyundai India Chief recently said that they plan to introduce the 1.1L CRDi engines in their small car range but refused to divulge any dates for these introductions.

Actually they are not talking about a diesel engine. In European markets the i10 comes with a 3-cyl 1 litre petrol engine. May be for cost reasons, surprisingly, Hyundai decided not to bring this engine to India and keep the Santro 1.1 engine going for the i10.

I don't care about this engine but surely hope they will bring a diesel into the mix.

Cheers.

2013 Hyundai i10 spied. EDIT : Spotted in India on Page 2!-2014hyundaii10prototype.jpg

High Points:
  • The 2014 Hyundai i10 was spotted testing in front of Hyundai's European-tech center in Germany.
  • The camouflage / disguise is pretty heavy but from these pictures, it's safe to assume that this isn't just a face-lift. It's an all-new i10!
  • Expect a slew of engine options including a diesel-mill and a petrol-mill supplemented by natural-gas (LPG)
  • The car is scheduled to debut in the latter-half of 2013 and go on sale in 2014. Expect India to be one of the first markets to get it!

Suhaas, thanks for sharing!

From the side profile pic, it looks like they have increased the wheel base as well. I think, a diesel engine, if launched will be welcomed just like hot cakes.

The testing mule also runs on alloys and also it looks like a notch bigger tires than what is currently served on our Indian roads.

Side profile resembles the old i10 may be only slightly longer, but the width seems to have increased a lot. Should be a lot better at seating 3 people at the rear.

From these pics, I get a feeling of a nice planted to the ground stance- compared to the current tall boy design of the i10.

If this is the case, it would be more stable on highways compared to the current model. Since I drive the current gen i10, I have noticed considerable amount of body roll in an average speed.

Now, the next-gen i10 is spied in India as well. Below is the link to ACI's report in the sighting:

Default Autocar India Scoop: Next gen i10

Next gen i10 spotted in India by Autocar India:

Quote:
Though heavily disguised, it looks longer and wider than the current car and the silhouette of the grille behind the cladding suggests the new i10 follows Hyundai's ‘Fluidic’ design theme.....

Hyundai is also developing a new 1.1-litre common-rail diesel for use in this new i10.....

This new car, codenamed BA, will be officially revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and will be launched in India thereafter.
One thing I like about Hyundai is that they have made India as there export hub for almost all small cars. Thus we are able to see them here first.

Is it me, or don't the wheels in the photo look rather biggish for an i10? Like a 15-incher?

How I wish it would resemble the i20 more than the fluidic theme. The i20 for me looks better and mature than the fluidic theme which looks overdone.

Wheels in the first pic in the above pic look too big for an i10. Wheels in second pic look different and are more i10-like. Side profile does not look much different. I'm sure they would have added few 'fluidic' creases.
