ZenD sold quite a few. If there is a comparison probably it sold more than a Getz

the problem with this thread is that every individual has a different perspective about a "flop" car.

now when can we say a car is a "flop"?

ok, the vectra & sierra is a flop. but can the palio, getz & SX4 be called a flop? it has sold in decent numbers, maybe not as much as the swift or city. but i feel a flopped car is one which you rarely see on the road.

@ agbenny: i agree that the vectra is a looker. i was simply stunned when i had a TD of the car. it was truly a opel- a german car. such calm & relaxed was the car at speeds of 140 kmph. it was loaded with so much gadgetry that i cannot recollect even half of it. the car's solid build make you feel jap cars are made of tin foil. its really sad this car was not accepted.

IIRC, the Opel Vectra was sold in India only against import entitlements and had to be paid for out of foreign currency. In other words, it was an import and was not available freely. Only exporters and other foreign exchange earners could buy it. This explains its rarity.

Cheers,

Cheers,
i think it was quite freely available in all GM showrooms. we were almost going to buy one (we are no exporters!) & had visited two showrooms, TD the vectra in one of them, took the price quotations, but then wisely decided to wait & watch the response of the car in the market.

ZEN classic
ZEN Carbon and Steel
Sipani Montana
Dolphin
Dolphin Station Wagon
Rhino
Mahindra Festara
Opel Astra, Vectra, Swing, Corsa, Sail
Daewoo Matiz - then there was an "upgraded' version of the Cielo - cant remember what it was called
Maruti Versa
Three wheeler Vikram
Standard Rover 2000
Rover Montego
Then in Coimbatore there was one locally designed and fabricated car from the same guys who made Jaya Diesel engines - that also failed.

Hey Shankar, i think that model was called Nexia. Lot of people thought that was still Cielo. I don't remember what the changes were new in that model. Some cosmetic changes to the front and rear i think.

Sigh people are still confused about Flop cars.

I see Zen Steel & Carbon in the list, how can limited Edition cars be called Flop?

Matiz during its time was doing more than 4000 per month. So it can't be classified as flop.

The upgraded version of Cielo wased named as Cielo Nexia.
Its really a bad car, but used to give better AC cooling than other cars.

ok
my take on flop also means impractical given our penchant for VFM etc

Well VFM varries from Individual to individual.

Anyways I wasnt directing it at you, I have often seen people refer to even the Palio S10 as flop simply because there arent enough of them on the road, not knowing that they were a limited edition.

Some have also mentioned Matiz which was in no way a flop.

The kajah beedi people from Kerala had launched a vehicle christened, Kazwa. This flopped miserably.
