I also don't think Rhino as a flop vehicle in Indian Market, now you can see hundreds of them just on Mumbai roads & also as tourist vehicles on highways & I think that the only reason behind it is their average as its 2.0L engine returns around 15 KMPL.

AS suggested by our dear v12, I ve shifted from "Ford Edsel Like Failed Models From Indian Car Makers " to this thread. On the previous thread we were discussing some models that really failed miserably. Later on the discussion was about some short lived, but not failed cars. Like 118 NE, PAL PEUGEOT etc. Initially they did well. Opel Vectra is a good example for cars that really failed. And going a bit past, what about Standard Vanguard, Standard 8, Standard 10, Standard companion, Amby stationwagon, Premier SAFARI ...Let me think again and will try to come back with other names...
This thread is really interesting...

actually youre right - when there was a certain lack of choice in the marketplace, the Matiz definitely used to sell. then when better options became available, people simply migrated. therefore I take your point about Matiz and one or two of the others, including the Rhino and the Zen Carbon and Steel.

Anyways I wasnt directing it at you, I have often seen people refer to even the Palio S10 as flop simply because there arent enough of them on the road, not knowing that they were a limited edition.

Some have also mentioned Matiz which was in no way a flop.

Will agree with all except the Reva. Its hugely popular in Bangalore and once they get service stations elsewhere, I'm sure it will be popular there too.
And the Zen Carbon two door (I personally LOVED IT!!) failed too.

Exactly! The petrol Scorpio had a Renault sourced mill.It was called the REV116.I have not seen a single example till date.
The earlier version of the Accent 1.5 diesel didn't do well too.So did the Esteem D.

when someone mentions a safari & a innova, how can pavan leave a scorpio?

well, i had a small TD of the petrol scorpio. it was DESTINED to be a flop! well, it was refined & all, but it seriously lacked the grunt one expected. moreover, who would want a 2 ton SUV to be powered by a thirsty petrol engine? good mahindra dint experiment more & launch a CNG scorpio!

I do not think Sonalika Rhino is a flop. Its doing well certainly, though not comparable with Qualis.
The only problem, that bring them here is their sales network, they launched in the north first, and came later to south (If I am wrong, at least to Tamilnadu. I see many on the road here.

Defining a flop model is real difficult in this market. Many a car is famous/sell well in Diff part of India. And again If we can compare A super hit model like SWIFT/ALTO/M800 with some other model then obviously all the cars are FLOP.
Ex: TATA Magic is very famous as passenger car in North but here u find very few. Even when one of my known person bought I was surprised to see that.

If you see Marina, In Bangalore there is lots of Meru Cab that are plying the city.

Don't forget the granddaddy of all flops - the Tata Estate. It had so many problems that Tata Motors took their first real knock to their reputation.
