More images means big trouble. This image itself entailed a big circus.

Yes, dashboard design remains same. Fabric and few other trims may see a refresh.

Bigger revamps are expected to begin with Vista Refresh. Diwali 2013 or early 2014 is ETA for the Vista Refresh as of now. A scoop on that is likely tomorrow.

Until Vista Refresh, all launches from Tata will be makeovers such as the 2013 Nano and Indigo eCS.

Cheers,

Jay

CR4 is NOT a common rail engine( like fiat 1.3)

I think these old cars, Indica, Indigo and sumo still sell good in rural areas and tier 2 cities.

I'm afraid you are mistaken. CR4 is indeed a common rail 16 valve engine although it is derived from the 8 valve IDI engine that equipped the earlier Indicas. The common rail version was earlier called DICOR - Direct Injection Common Rail.

It seems like Tata's going the right direction,
with the limited options available in terms of new launches, they have to ensure quality and try to change buyers perspective till they launch their reportedly blockbuster car in 2015

For the last several years, for every step forward Tata have taken several dozen step backward, well at least in terms of results. Now, 2015 blockbuster car must be spotted with several test mules which is just not happening. Remember with Storme, they took several years to actually launch it, and same with Nano diesel and yet no where near the launch. The question then is "Will Tata launch really something in 2015?" I wish so, but don't think it would happen.

Besides that I don't think Tata will continue with Karl Symm for more than a year if the same results continue over next six months. They are badly losing the market share and it seems to be getting worse each month and these facelifts are not going to stop them. The quality enhancement over the depleting sales would hardly reach prospective customer when a thousand times over unsatisfactory customers crib about the poor quality and niggles. One forward way would be to go along the price cuts suggested by some members while increasing the quality simultaneously. This will mean huge losses over the next couple of years. However, the market share bleeding should be stopped at all costs. My conjecture is that these thousands of crore losses is worth as they would have spend even more to "regain market share". We are seeing how GM, Ford, and Nissan have failed to gain market share despite some niche cars. Now, if Tata loose their market share and they are already near the numbers and lurking at similar position of GM, Ford, and Nissan, their struggle will be much more than them to recapture the market share.

Wow that split chrome grill accessory is going to make this car very similar to the Honda amaze and we might see 5-6000 indigo eCS selling from next month onwards !!

C'mon TATA, even the cab drivers dont like you anymore. Is that all you got in terms of investment ? new chrome insert ?

Not sure what Tata is up to. This car does not look any different from the earlier versions. Like mentioned earlier in the post, just cosmetic upgrades would not change the mind of the buyers. Unless Tata is intending to stick to the cabbies and get back some of the share the marutis and toyotas have captured, this would not fly with individual buyers

Cable shift gearbox? Finally??? This is the one feature that will infinitely improve the gearshift feel of the Indigo, one of the major grudges I had against it. Are you sure that it's the Vista box though, because the Vista uses a Fiat transaxle, which might be too costly for the IndigoCS. With all these changes, there's a good chance that the eCS will make a splash.

With the taxi market shifting to Etios, maybe we will see less of these new eCS as Taxis. But then again, nothing will stop people from making any car into a Taxi. I saw an Etios TRD taxi at a stand last month, the variant with the skirting, stickers and gunmetal finish alloys!

I am disappointed that the Petrol version still has the underpowered 1.2L from the Xeta. Tata has all kind of turbos lying around, why can't they fit one onto this engine and give it some real shove? It shares the same block as the diesel engine, so it's strong enough to handle it.

Vista TDI does not use Fiat box but Tata box with cable mechanism. That's what CS is getting.

Or they can reduce the cubic capacity of the 100 HP petrol engine they use in LWB Indigo from 1.4L to 1.2L, like they did with the Xeta engine earlier. Should be good enough for 80 HP. Basically it is the same engine.

Why? The wheels are inspired from the '12 XF 3.0. Yeah, great progress Tata.

Notwithstanding, there is no facelift to the overall design ? After so many years, Tata does not feel the design can be modified to improve dynamics and make it more modern ? Or they feel Indigo is a classic and should not be touched? It shows, except taxi segment, they do not want any body else to buy this car. Utterly uninspiring, because, the CS market segment is seeing so much action and a novel design would have done wonders to Tata.

Is there any scheduled Tata event happening tomorrow? I had tweeted to Tata on how disappointed I am with their current range and if we could see another game changer like the original Indica was. Tata's response was - We wont let you down - Watch this space tomorrow!
