Absolutely Azeem. Appreciate you point of view although it is slightly different from mine. To each his own right!

No two ways about the ride and handling of the 3. Superior to anyone else in the race.

So whom did you vote for the Duster even if you won't be buying one?

Sorry drmohitg, my mistake. I ought to have looked at the first page and seen what was there. Read the private message,... And went and made my post.
I Will not do this again I hope

Omtoatom, sorry but I cannot give a reply to that here, cause that would be seen as out of context by the mods, and I already made one mistake by making an unasked for post.
Maybe on another page?

Is it essential to puchase the car voted as COTY ?

No, just vote for whichever you think is the most significant car launched this year.

I see more value in the Ertiga than the Duster. Duster is a Sedan with a High ground clearance and a different. Apart from that there are no differences. So, the price does not justify the product. It a segment first for tactically they can charge more. Where as for the Ertiga I see a well positioned product from Maruthi that meets the needs of the medium to large India families. Nothing against the Duster, just that I think the Ertiga is a game changer with a higher impact.

I somehow am not able to get to the first page on my iPad Team Bhp app. Can anyone help? Since I can't see what cars are there, I can't vote. My vote will go for the Mahindra Quanto, if its there in the list.

Voted for the Duster. Finally a well rounded product launched by Renault. Might replace my ANHC with it in a few months.

I voted for Eartiga, reasons are:
a) Well rounded package
b) Agility of a sedan with space and utility of MUV
c) VALUE for money all over ( though some say diesel versions are priced higher, market response says otherwise)
d) Lastly, if I were to change my car today, Eartiga will be one of the top contender

Duster is exciting, but IMO Eartiga scores over it because of Maruti realibility/network/track record

Mind said "Ertiga", but my hand clicked "Duster". Renault being a newcomer, the efforts put in to give a wonderful product is something amazing..

I nickenamed it as a "duck" (due to its wide grill). Hope its time for them to capatalize on this success and serve better for the consumers.

Kudos to Renault...

Tough fight for the COTY! My narrowed list comes down to 3:

Alto: Within the constrains of the budget, a great package to offer. Let's not forget the the previous avatar was selling like hot cakes anyway. Great effort but more evolution than revolution.

Ertiga: Finally a 'smaller' innova! The reason it is selling so well is that there apparently is a market for a slightly more compact 7 seater as proven by the zooming sales. There is only one drawback - the car seems to be slightly underpowered for a fully laden 7 seater.

Duster: It just created a segment and yet ticks most of the boxes that Indians seem to value! Now for a top-end model with more gizmos and features and yes..the 4 WD version. Throw in a DSG along with all of this and it may take the award again next year!
My choice!

I have voted for the Scala. It's a decent sedan at that price point and has that exclusivity too owing to its fewer numbers on road.

Thank you Devdath. My vote would go to the Mahindra Quanto, for the following reasons:

Positives:
1. Extremely practical for its price, thereby making it appeal to a large number of buyers.
2. Has a towering stance that gives you confidence in our overcrowded cities, which even the Duster cannot match.
3. Acres of space inside, with very comfortable front seats and a superbly airy cabin (much more than most sedans today).
4. Very peppy engine with good low end grunt, suited for stop-go traffic while being relatively quick on the highway.
5. Tough underpinnings with a body on frame design, that can take a lot of abuse on our rutted roads. It may not be a true SUV and therefore impractical for off-reading, but most customers of this car are not the ones who care for that anyway.
6. Relatively frugal in terms of efficiency, which is a good thing too.

Negatives:
1. Ugly to look at, but then who cares if the overall package is good? (Remember the Qualis?)
2. Unstable on undulating roads, which can be uncomfortable for long drives. But most Quanto owners (or any car, for that matter) are usually only driving to work and back.the occasional drive out of town will be tolerated.
3. Upright back seat, making it not so good for the rear passengers. However, this can be rectified if you take out the jump seats and adjust the setback incline.

Overall points:
A practical, affordable, quasi SUV that really empowers the average Indian to aspire towards a better quality of life by shedding the notion that SUVs are only for the rich and famous.

Going by the last 2 years' results, the SUV is the way to go for the new India.

Not at all because SUVs can't be future of 'New India.'

How's this one? IMO a COTY should be something like this

fresh, innovative, ground breaking, trend setting and futuristic

I can't say/reveal more than that
