Fiat Avventura Abarth could be launched a little later than Punto Abarth, considering the trial vehicle of off-road friendly variant is still yet to wear Abarth specific exterior trims, camouflaged or not. Or, Fiat could even launch both Abarth variants together, considering both the models are testing together.

No, the Avventura will not get the 4 WD even as an option. I dont think it will even come.

As a matter of fact, don't expect to see that feature in any of the cars that get launched under FIAT label(if not other brands). I don't think we are ready to buy a car with such an option, as first thing that's going to affect is the Fuel Efficiency.
Indian enthusiast market is not so big that a manufacturer would launch a 4WD hatch.Would love to be proved wrong though.

This Fiat's India strategy thread has run into almost 150 pages. Looking at the way Fiat is hopping around all over the place I am sure even Fiat India's & Fiat global's strategy document will not be of 150 pages!

I feel Fiat should focus on Grand Cherokee and try and have CKD here. CBU will kill the Grand Cherokee I don't know why Fiat doesn't see that. Wrangler can be given the miss. It has no market here and Fiat doesn't need a halo model right now. The Grand Cherokee can establish the Jeep brand in India much better then the Wrangler.

The Avventura all set to lose the spare wheel?

Fiat India is seriously considering removing the spare from the boot door and placing it inside the car (in the boot space of the car where a wheel-well already exists for the same).

From what we understand, Fiat is at the moment under talks if they should consider removing the spare wheel from the back and placing it inside the car (as there is already a well for the tyre).

The Avventura is based on the Punto Evo and on the inside both are the same, except for some additional features that are offered on the crossover. Then there is more ground clearance too for the Avventura.

However, the process to open the boot is longer and that is why Fiat is considering removing the boot and changing the styling of the Avventura. As the wheel is mounted on a frame, first one has to slide the frame and then pop the hatch.

Fiat's 1.5 diesel is under development and will debut in 2016.

Latest reports indicate the engine will be ready by early 2016, but will not power Fiat cars instead the new Jeep C-segment SUV that will be powered by this 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Fiat will use this engine only in 2017-18, when the brand will be launching its new range of products
This includes a new sedan, hatchback and a compact SUV.

Really a on the R&D team of Fiat India. 2017-18? Really Fiat?

So basically, if there is truth to these reports, all those MJD Evo's & Linea's will be chugging along using the 1.3 engine for the next 2 years

I really wonder at times if Fiat is really serious about making numbers through their car sales or are just content with selling their Engines in India.

Ah that was an expected one from FIAT. back to back wherever I search in our forum,99% of the posts on that Italian marque are nothing but rants about its innovations, marketing ,sales.

And here's mine - guess my dream of FIAT cars being the perfect blend of performance, economy, ride & handling is a distant one atleast by a couple of years. Go on Renault,VAG and Toyota.
P.s : have left Koreans and Japanese because they will never get the ride and handling part sorted in near future IMHO.

According to NDTV, Kevin Flynn suggests that the Fiat 500X and 500L could be headed to India. The petrol model of the 500L may use the 0.9L MultiAir engine that hasn't been seen here yet. The 500X uses the same platform as the Jeep Renegade -- I wonder if it makes sense for Fiat to introduce competing products under different badges (the way Renault-Nissan have been doing, without much success).

This would be FIAT's reaction for these kind of valid comments.

Speculations with FIAT never end, they keep talking (occasionally), however the time taken for these words to get in action is way too long.

The car's are wonderful and a delight, so lets enjoy the drive as we anyways don't have control over their slumber .

Cheers,
pdma.

Guys, Just came across this news.

Fiat Contemplating launching Abarth Linea in India.

http://www.autocarindia.com/auto-new...ia-397482.aspx

Quote:

Fiat recently revealed the Abarth Punto along with the 595 Competizione at the BIC.
The 143bhp hot hatchback is scheduled to roll into showrooms during the upcoming festive season. The next model to get the Abarth treatment will be the Avventura, but Fiat is also considering a high-performance Abarth version of the Linea.

The company seems to have taken note of the positive feedback that the Abarth Punto has received, and hence the same 143bhp T-Jet turbo petrol engine could be available in the Linea. It is also likely that the other mechanical changes such as rear disc brakes, stiffened suspension and lowered ride height (20mm) will make it to the sedan, if the car gets cleared for production.

Like seen on the Abarth Punto, the Abarth Linea could get certain upgrades to design.

The Linea has struggled to keep up with its segment rivals, and is now beginning to show its age. But with the sedan getting the Abarth badge, Fiat will not only inject some much-needed excitement into the car, but will also allow it to cater to enthusiasts looking for a powerful-yet-affordable mid-size sedan.

An article in the NDTV Auto section mentions Fiat contemplating bringing in the 500X and 500L to India and Kevin Flynn mentioning that the cars need to be built in India to be able to keep the price in check. I donot know how to add the article to the post so somebody who knows can probably do so. Flynn certainly seems to be a man in a hurry.

Makes sense because the new small SUV from Jeep that fiat plans to launch in India is also based on the same platform.
