My friend took delivery of his, supposedly first, white Chevy Sail in Mumbai few days back and brought her to my office. Couldn't take a test drive due to some reasons but took following photos for all to feast upon:
Cost on-road in Mumbai - 7.80L

That is the engine control unit for the car.

@ariesonu, those chrome fitments in your friend's car must be part of dealer's free accessories, the car can be had without these. Your friend bought the petrol... does he plan to convert to CNG/ LPG?

He is sucker for Petrol cars. He is from league of people who think diesel is for CV's only.
His earlier car is(was) Honda Accord (barge), again petrol. The car met with an accident & is lying with reay road workshop from last 8 months.

I don't think the chrome is a standard factory fitment, unless there is some recent changes. The LT I took a look at, never had these, at the showroom.

Well, that's a keen observation.

************************************************** ****************

What I did NOT like otherwise in a SAIL is the interior color combo, & ICE too. Just doesn't look nice. Feels cheap to me.

Ofcourse the dealer attitude is altogether another point, the guy was showing off to the core making me think there is a halo on top of GM logo. I requested him for a TD when it's available and said my brother wanted me to get my feedback and this guy says this straight - "Don't worry Sir. I will give him (my brother) a TD and both of you need not take the TD." I have gone multiple times thru the same route, but never felt like going to the showroom because of this one reason. The attitude is pathetic.

Some how I have a strange feeling that pricing of Sail sedan will change after the launch of Amaze. It totally beats me how Chevrolet can afford to have such a long waiting period for a newly launched car when Honda is flooding their dealerships with cars that is yet to be launched or the Dzire which on any day sells more than all the GM models combined. I think GM is waiting to see how Honda prices Amaze and then only go for an active production cycle. A good indicator would be March sales figures when it is out on monday. My suspicion is the Sail will cost more from May if Amaze is priced at a premium over Dzire. In any case I am absolutely sure that potential buyers of Sail sedans will be less than amused to wait for a newly launched car without a very clear USP.

Now the brochures for both Sail U-VA and Sail sedan are withdrawn from Chevrolet website.

I saw Sail sedan in flesh yesterday. Somehow it looked tiny as it passed by. The car is surely spacious in the rear seat, but somehow looked less wide compared to even my swift. Also the height of the car is much lower, so i might have got deceived !!

A friend of mine took a test drive and was happy with the way it drove. Steering was light but suspension was very nice for city driving.

Where is the much needed TBHP review? Did Chevy stop providing the car for press fearing poor reviews?

Anyway, I saw a red and black Sail U-VA(both LS) today. I liked them, subtle, clean. The Black and Red colors hide some of the blandness. It looks very boring in Platinum Metallic or gold, which is somebody bought in our colony.

Call it the Amaze effect :P They need to come up with something to rival Honda and eventhough the Amaze will be a CS, the Sail will have a hard time matching up to it. What say brother?

The only serious grouse most have with SAIL is the equipment level & feature list. Its a very functional car - spacious, has the national diesel heart and chevy isn't such an unknown.
I took a test drive myself in the SAIL LS. The dealer didn't have the LT. Its a nice car but just doesn't feel premium. People upgrading to sedans don't necessarily want a cheap sedan. For them, an upgrade doesn't mean just a boot!

One thing I fail to understand, what is there with the petrol Sail. Other than the space, the Ford Fiesta Classic is better in all aspect. The top end petrol costs under 7L and that is equipped with the 1.6L engine. Handling is way better. Interiors look rich. Probably has more features.

The CLassic (petrol) is a hell of a car at the price point. I would choose it over any entry level sedan like Etios, Sail, Dzire, Manza .

For the diesel Sail would probably make mores sense.

The Chevrolet Facebook pages says "Thank you for 7000 bookings!"

I wonder what's stopping them from giving a car to TBHP for a proper review!

Bookings dont mean sales though , lets see what the latest sales analysis report shows in terms of performance for the car.
