Default Pics : The hideous Cheetah-themed XUV5OO

The in-house modification division of Mahindra decided that the XUV-5OO was not cheetah(ish) enough.

So they came up with this :-

Name: XUV500.1JPG.JPG
Views: 7651
Size: 50.5 KB

Name: Xuv5002.JPG
Views: 6045
Size: 69.0 KB

Name: XUV500 3.JPG
Views: 5981
Size: 34.7 KB

I have just one question...WHY???

For more pics and info :-
http://www.mahindraxuv500.com/Cheetah-Themed-XUV500.htm

Is Mr.J.S. Nanda still the head of the customization department at M&M?

Though the design may not be suiting the car, I really appreciate the art, and the attention given to details by the artist. But the overall job, like most other 'mahindra custom modifications' will surely make you ask "Whyy"

Is this thing for sale or just for their use?

You seem to have missed the TOI MIMS 2013 coverage where it was available for personal experience and looks quite different than these pics, though subject to ones liking, but it does look quite striking, available in thread http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...an-2013-a.html (TOI Mumbai International Motor Show 24th - 27th Jan 2013).

Showcase of talent I guess.

While it may not be very pleasing to the eye, the Butch SUV from Mahindra is not meant to be anyway. However the artwork deserves credit.

One question, What happens in case you need to repaint the bonet, for a dent/scratch lets say.

Mahindra needs to realize that it's high time they tone down the front and rear, not the other way around. The fact that the XUV looks better in black (due to this very reason), is now a well known fact.

Even if XUV has been a hit in the market, why not attempt some design changes that make it more appealing to urban folks, or is it too much to ask from designers who have (arguably) learnt to predominantly cater to the rural market so far?

I am sure either Mahindra could gift one or two to the Bangalore police department as a brand building or Bangalore Police can buy one of these to match their two wheelers, to save additional painting!

Like the paint & work otherwise, NOT on a XUV though!

I seem to have missed that link, however it might have been overlooked due to all the lights and glamour being focused on the Parx show.

I do like the quality of the art work, however if a spotting of this car would have been made on the road it would have definitely landed up on the weird and wacky section here.

I remember watching an interview with the designer of the XUV 500 when it was launched and she has said the design was based on a Cheetah.

Hence the high rear wheel arch resembling the hind leg of the animal. This would be a limited edition theme related to that.

May be if they focused on improving the product and sorting out the niggles rather than painting it golden would do more good and bring in increased public interests. A corporate gimmick that will surely get them some marketing space but just that.

I would have loved to see its crouched hind legs painted on the rear bumper and the cheetah tail on the rear. Pun aside, it looks ghastly! But is it just a custom paint job? Looks so at least from the web page link. In which case its a PR exercise so am not going to worry that i will have an encounter with this cheetah in real life.

Custom paint job customized for a show or its it for a genuine buyer?

It kind of destroys the butch stance of the XUV, IMO. May a black panther would have looked better.

What happens if you go in for a denting / painting job?

Lol, looks like M&M is pitching for some cop cars of Bangalore. Cheetah is the name given to the police petrol bikes in bangalore and they look like the picture that was shared above.

Is this a new color for XUV ? I dont remember seeing any mahindra vehicle in this color.

Off topic - if XUV is Cheetah inspired ?? what was the inspiration for old Xylo ? a PIG ? luckily we did not have a special edition xylo with graphics of a pig

Art work is not suiting the XUV, IMO.

If its for Sale, then the customer opting for this will have a tough time maintaining it.
It would be extremely difficult for an external paint house to match the quality of original art work.
