Post Honda winds up Jazz production!

Fresh update from Mumbai is none of the dealers are accepting orders or are keen on doing the same if you budge them! And since Honda sold a dismal 61 units of the car last month, I clearly see this baby either being readied for a possible diesel motor or the worst possibility, being discontinued.

Its such a shame that ever since its introduction, the company never did anything to sell this amazing car seriously. You cant expect numbers by just cutting the price!

I believe this has a lot of import content and hence nothing much can be done now. Add to it, this product is towards the end of life now. So the best way is to ignore it for the time being and then do something really sensible (very high localization / diesel option) while launching the next gen (if not discontinued). I also read that Honda will bring in a new MPV in 2014 - so they might as well discontinue this.

Just on from the auto car show:

Honda to stop production of the jazz until they have the new model for launch in 2014.

That's a sad news for one of the best hatchbacks around.

That's some really sad news.

Jazz was one of the best hatchbacks available in India. Was looking forward to own one myself. But now the wait is too long.

Post Honda winds up Jazz production!

A brilliant product from the start has completed a not so brilliant run and is now retired! Hope Honda fills the void soon and gets the pricing correct on the next generation Jazz!!

Note from the Team-BHP Support : Please avoid typing with excessive dots.........like................this. Thanks

Truly a classic case of 'lost in wilderness'. Was probably the best looking hatch in the indian market. Honda is betting big time on the Amaze (as the article says). How much effort would it have taken to fit the existing JAZZ with the diesel powerplant from Amaze? (instead of waiting till 2014). That would have brought quite a few takers.

Anyway with a heavy heart we bid adieu to this radical hatchback from the big H.

What's up with this "comeback-after-break" approach from Honda? Why not continue with this till the next-gen model is available?

Hope this lack of continuity does not cause the good image of this hatch to fade away from public memory.

Read they makes losses on every single vehicle sold. It's better to stop selling right? And utilise that space for their "game changer"!

Jazz does NOT have a "good" image with the customers of India (except very few who love it for every right things). So it's better if the product fades out of people's mind. They hopefully can come back and make a change in fortunes with the right ingredients & same brand.

The Jazz is undoubtedly the best hatch in the Indian market. The halt of production is to make way for the Amaze and price it at a suitable price point. With the Jazz & Amaze both on sale, there would not have been much of a price difference. They will relaunch the next-gen Jazz that would be released globally in 2014. I would expect it could take a bit longer for it to come to India given how we get so many cars months after they are launched in other markets. FYI Jazz does have a good image. Infact, people know it is the best hatch because of its all round abilities.

So lots of Next-Gen models expected from Honda in 2014. Sorry to see Jazz go, but it was making huge losses. They should have pulled the plug long long ago. Was not priced right, and when they shaved off the price tag, the market had already rejected it.

Keenly waiting for the Jazz based crossover aka Ertiga's competitor. Will be a serious contender, provided they learn from their mistake and price it right.

I think Amaze diesel will be the game changer for Honda's fortunes in India. Its make or break. (Time to hit the pedal to the metal and make history as Mr. Viru would say).

Sad to see this wonderful car go :( Truly a beauty. Even after so many years, I am 'amaze'd by its beauty and utility, something that the Brio somehow doesn't feel like. I hope the relaunch will be with diesel engine in 2014.

Honda had sealed the destiny of this product at the time of launch itself when they priced it way over what it should have been.

Sad to see an excellent product go out of streets, but I also hope that Jazz's resale will take a nosedive and I'd be able to pick one in the used market for peanuts.

Shows what bad pricing can do.
Honda Management to be squarely blamed for keeping their heads buried in sand.

Sad day.

This is really a sad news. I love the Jazz more than their flagship model City. It is now clear that the current pricing for Jazz does not make any profit for Honda.
