Now, IAB (with reference to Autonetmagz) have the company has laid down few of he specifications of the MUV & at present it is confirmed that it would get 1.5L i-VTEC engine (same as the City) & 185 mm ground clearance , which will definitely a boon in Indian conditions.

The engineers & designers at Honda are trying to make the roomiest interiors in the segment , which could be aided by increasing the overall height of the vehicle (as compared to the sedan & hatch).

Good times ahead for Honda. A Brio based spacious 7-seater MPV with Honda's frugal 1.5 petrol/diesel engines is going to be an unbeatable proposition. The profile looks a bit like a station wagon. The low height might mean that the 3rd row occupants have to crouch to get in and out.

Honda’s MPV designs are generally like that. They follow the same sedan/estate-like height for MPVs like the Odyssey and Stream. But their space management is so good that, getting in and out of the 3rd row is not as difficult as it looks

If this MPV comes to India, buyers will have tough time to choose a product from Honda stable. The products will wary from Brio hatchback, Amaze, 2014 Jazz, new compact SUV and Brio MPV. Anyways eagerly waiting to see the third row of this MPV.

Sad to see the ABS absent in MT versions. I hope they'll make it standard when they bring it to India, considering Ertiga has it in all variants except LXi.

Default Details & Images of the Brio-based Honda Mobilio MPV

Link to News Section

The Honda Brio-based compact MPV, code-named the 2NH, is likely to be called the Mobilio in the Indonesian car market. The Mobilio MPV will make its debut in Indonesia, following which it is expected to be sold in other South Asian car markets including India. The MPV will be built in Indonesia from early 2014.

The car's official debut could happen on the 19th of September, at the 2013 Indonesian International Motor Show. The Mobilio MPV represents the third car model on the Brio platform, after the hatchback and compact sedan variants. For the Indonesian car market, the Mobilio will be available in three variants, and with one engine option.

The 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine, found on the City sedan sold in India, will power the Mobilio in Indonesia. For the Indian car market, expect the Mobilio to feature the 1.5 liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine, borrowed from the Amaze sedan, as the major engine offering.

The 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine could also be offered in the Indian market as the Mobilio's chief rival in India, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, is also sold with a petrol engine option. The Indonesia-spec Honda Mobilio MPV features a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard while the MPV can also be specified with a CVT automatic gearbox as an option.

The MPV is a 7 seater and will go head to head with the likes of the Toyota Avanza, the Suzuki Ertiga and the Daihatsu Xenia in the Indonesian car market. Twin airbags, ABD+EBD, 15 inch alloy wheels, reverse parking sensors, 2-DIN factory fitted stereo with dual speakers, tilt steering, tumble-down seats for the second and third row for added versatility, electric wing mirrors, dual air conditioner blowers for front and rear seat and keyless entry are the various prominent features on the Mobilio MPV.

Honda Mobilio (Brio-based MPV) coming soon? EDIT: pre-launch ad on p29-2014-honda-mobilio-mpv-2.jpg

If Honda resurrects the Mobilio moniker for use on the Brio-based MPV worldwide, the Mobilio badge will be making a comeback after it was retired in 2008. From 2001 to 2008, Honda built a 7 seat compact MPV for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) under the Mobilio badge. The Mobilio was replaced by the Honda Freed MPV. The Freed is expected to continue selling in South Asian car markets, alongside the newly resurrected Mobilio name plate that will adorn the Brio-based 2NH MPV.

Looks like Honda is taking the suzuki designs seriously and improvising on them to gain the market share. We had Amaze which was targeting Dzire(and clearly it is any day better than Dzire) and instantly started eating into its share and now Mobilio which looks like a result of "how to make a car better than Ertiga"

If i were to trust these rumors, Mobilio is suppose to seat 7 plus carry good space for their luggage as well !! Which is good for end customer

If Honda manages to fulfill all the requirements as you mentioned above, then it would be an outstanding achievement for its designers. Let us wait and see, how will be the Indian version of Mobilio.

This is good competition coming up for the Ertiga. Guess Maruti will counter it by launching a facelift. Plus there is the CNG variant which can be a tilting factor for the urban buyer to consider the Ertiga.

Nice design, but the only major worry for me is third row passenger safety.
If you observe the third picture, third row passengers can have head injuries in case of a collision from the rear end.

Looking at the space and packaging brilliance of brio & amaze, if Honda is able to do the same with the MPV, it should be another hit with the indian masses.

Higher powered engines at lower price point than Ertiga(going by pricing by brio)will do a lot of damage to the Ertiga.

The MPV looks really promising and hopefully be a better package then Ertiga. By the way any info on the launch date in India or expected launch date.
