You should have included the Ford Ecosport as well. The Jazz looks good, nothing special. The variants are messed. No VX trim on CVT. Magic Seats, AVN, only on VX Variant. Except for the rear seat space, Navigation, Ford Ecosport ecoboost comes on top in manual. For 10 Lakh Budget, Ecosport Auto with 6 speed dct is the best.

I love the golden metallic brown color Honda Jazz. Looks brilliant! I wish they had launched dark blue color Jazz as well

On the obvious comparison with I20, I guess we need to remember that the Jazz beats the I20 in the key parameters - Space (both passenger and luggage) and Mileage.

On top of that, I guess the Jazz a better steering and handling.
I think- mechanically, the only place whee the I20 scores more is the diesel engine refinement but the I20 diesel suffers from turbo lag which the IDTEC does not have.

Now, coming to the features. it's not like the I20 is miles ahead. Yes, it's very well loaded no doubt.

Here is a comparison. Am I missing something significant?
I have tried to put the significant features in Italics (which might impact decision making ) as there are quite a few which doesn't mean much to me.

Advantage Jazz -

The Jazz has the audio system with bigger screen which means it's much easier to navigate through playlists/tracks/phonebook etc plus a bigger display for the reverse camera compared to the I20. The top end one also gets satellite navigation, DVD playback and touch sensitive display.
The Jazz MFD will show the real time mileage and DTE along with the fancy lighting for 'eco' driving.
The higher variants have a stub like antenna compared to the age old long and thin antenna on the I20.
Reclining option for the rear seat
LED tail lights
Small touches like cup holder in front of AC vents to keep your drink cool ( A feature which I find very useful)
Not to forget the magic seats which offers unmatched flexibility
touchscreen climate control (fancy thing, thoSimilarly for I20, here is the list

Advantage I20 -

Smart key
push button start
16" superb alloys with thicker rubber for higher variants
rear AC vents
electrochromic mirror
telescoping steering adjustment
glovebox cooling
front armrest
headlamp escort
impact sensing door unlock
automatic headlamps
parking sensors (not so important as Jazz gets reverse camera with a big screen to display)
Chrome door handles

I guess it is the golden brown metallic color which has been posted above by @damager21.

I think the biggest reasons the Jazz will sell are - space, mileage and looks. If Honda prices it alongside I20, it should do well. Whether it takes the top slot or not, we need to wait and see.

I got to agree with many City owners who feel cheated paying almost double the price for same Engine and most features in Jazz. I would had to buy City in any case even if Jazz option was present then cos needed the boot.

Personally, I am not that impressed. Looks are alright. Features are fine though some nice ones are glaringly missing. Space is as expected segment leading. But, somehow this doesn't excited me like City did when launched. Still, keeping it in contention with Zest and Aspire. In any case 2nd car purchase had been delayed to December so plenty of time to figure out.

As for I20 Comparison, I will pick Jazz. Love the looks of i20 but the priorities like Space, mileage, irritating turbo lag had been taken care in Jazz.

A good thing about Jazz is that the Chrome level has been kept at a minimum unlike most of the other cars.
City has overdose of chrome.

Adimicra - I believe Chrome door handles is definitely not an advantage of i20. While I understand that Chrome is preferred by most people in India, I feel the Jazz looks cool with the body colored door handles.

Jazz will not only take market share from I20, Polo but all the compact sedans like Xcent, Zest, upcoming Aspire and Honda's own Amaze will feel the heat as it probably offers better space than all of them along with comparable boot space plus added flexibility in space utilization. The market has matured and the 'boot=big car' notion is fading away at least in the cities. The compact sedan segment will find it hard against competent premium hatches like the I20 and Jazz. I am not sure if Jazz will affect Swift and Dzire as those two cars seem to be immune to any new launch.

When I compare pricing of Verna with City it worries me. Top variants of Verna are more loaded with features than City yet they are priced on par or lower than City.

My guess and hope is that Honda launches Jazz petrol at 20k less per variant when compared with Elite i20. Lets not forget that Hyundai will be offering AVN in i20 from next month. Also, mileage of i20 petrol is 18.6 and that of Jazz is 18.7 so when it comes to petrol variant this too in not an advantage for Jazz.

Hi guys,

2015 Jazz vs Elite i20 comparison review from the web - http://www.autox.in/car-comparisons/...20-comparison/"

I think Honda will price the Jazz slightly higher than Elite i20. The price difference will be justified by better space and the Jazz brand. The impressive 27.3kmpl will mask the engine noise for the potential buyer. Personally the x-mas tree like tail lamp reflector is my only dislike in the new Jazz. I would like to see fierce sales competition between the Jazz and i20.

Quite a lot of arguments!! My perspective on the products (i20 Vs Jazz).

The space in i20 is enough for two 6' guys to sit in front & rear. The interior shade makes it claustrophobic, but it's more than enough & should not be a deal breaker unless the family is full of 6' people. Jazz might still be spacious than i20.

In a premium car, all I would expect is 'premiumness'. I care two hoots for an additional 2 kmpl since I can afford a 'premium' product. I have been in the i20 & loved it to the core for the way it pampers you. Steering was the only downer. I am not sure why would anyone buy a premium car which is bad on the NVH front.

City customers are those who go for the status & the boot. I personally do NOT think the Jazz will steal those customers. From what I have seen, some of the City customers even rule out other strong products from the segment without bothering to check it once; so much is the brand value City has.

I very well agree the Honda i-DTEC is no where close to the benchmark on engine noise and refinement. But, the Polo TDi is not too better. The 1.5 TDi is better than the old gen 1.2 TDi, but still high on clatter and noise. I guess, Polo is also a premium hatchback in all fairness and there are many buying it. For me, Swift is not a genuine premium hatchback, but it is what Suzuki offers here as a premium hatchback. Even the 1.3 DDiS in Swift is not a very silent unit like the i20's. It is not as harsh as the Honda's but the diesel clatter and noise is very much there. Don't even talk about the premium MUV Innova as that will take us OT.

To be frank, among the diesels I have experienced, only Hyundai's is really super-refined. So anyone not buying a premium hatchback from Hyundai is actually buying a diesel not excelling on the NVH front. This is my opinion based on the cars I have been seated in.

To be frank, majority of the common buyers, will not be much bothered by the poorer NVH especially if he gets 5 kmpl extra (not 2 kmpl as you have quoted, at least as per ARAI - might come down to 3 kmpl real world). One more advantage of the Honda diesel is its excellent city drivability with almost zero-lag (there is a bit of perceivable lag till ~1350 rpm - was more noticeable in the heavier City than in the lighter Amaze).

None of the reviewers have mentioned this yet, but the touchscreen unit looks like the one that was provided in the mobilio review cars and later on ditched due to its buggy nature, even the wires in the glove box are from the mobilio review cars. I hope Honda has fixed the issues with the touchscreen now and the team bhp review throws some light on whether the problems have been fixed or not.
I hope they have coz this a major differentiator for the jazz against the competitors..

Quite true, although people like us are not too many in India! Recently a neighbor bought the top end Honda city petrol and when I asked him how is the car, he answered 'mast mileage hai' (car gives great mileage). I mean you just got a 'premium sedan' and of all the things, he liked mileage the best!

Jazz diesel will pull in a lot of customers if priced roughly alongside i20 diesel.

Excuse me, what is this Jazz brand that you're referring to? Even though it was a good car, the Jazz brand was a dud, as far as the Indian market is concerned.
